PYPB XXXIII - Effects are STOOPID

Does this mean I have to cancel the torches and pitchforks? 'Cause I've got them standing by...just in case...

they're useful after the posts in violation are reported, to soften em up some before the mods arrive.

and i actually do have something on topic to post in this thread - working on my new board. it has integrated rackspaces :hyper:.

he runs 12 OC-2's, puts a really chubby grrL in his signal chain, then adds a pedal or two that are unfit for the eyes of us mere effects commoners.

because Sterling. is. the. MAN.

Thanks, behndy. This made me chuckle!

SICK! How are you getting that superdeep sound?

It's actually only one OC2 running into a Xerograph Deluxe low pass filter with the freq set to filter out most of the upper harmonics. I think I used the clean blend to bring back some punchiness, too. I like creating these ultra deep, shake your license plate at the stop light, basslines and I have about 20 different ways of achieving it depending on the application. The key really is the lpf and I love the Xero for this.

Ooooh nice! I went a bit crazy once and tried to design a crazy ass pedalboard with a rackspace and lights and tiers. It looked cool on paper, but I don't have the skill, resources or technical know how build anything :scowl: Be good you see how yours works out John!

Good to see everyone's pedalboards looking so sexy! Nothing from me yet, funds are always low :( Hopefully in the next few months I'll have a board to post instead of just a SansAmp! :)

re: thread title :

please check out effects forum rules, specifically #5. i made an addition that will hopefully address this issue for you guys.

http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f36/effects-forum-rules-faq-must-read-164936/

we shouldn't have had to make a rule about this - it's pretty much common sense, imo, but some folks are dense. so if you guys see any of the usual suspects wandering in and being doofy, just report em :).

just wanted to mention that. carry on :hyper:

Just to be the grammar nazi here but,....I caught a typo in your addition to the rules JT.

edit(JT) : -->5. Posting in this forum about how effects are unnecessary or dumb, or in fact posting anything phrased in a manner that could be construed as insulting the use of effects in generall will be henceforth considered trolling, and will dealt with accordingly.

Other then that you are practically perfect,....like Mary Poppins.

i LIKE the Goatkeepah. ****ing NEAT. rarrrrr.

I'm sure you've found it by now behn ... but I do believe that the most recent versions of the Line 6 M-Stuff has a "Goatkeeper"-inspired model. I am sure that there is probably some loss im the flexibility of the original, but you having both could you do a bit of an A/B? Just got my hands on the M5 again and I would be curious on how the M-version compares (or doesn't)?

Then, of course I'd have to find the time to actually get under the hood and make some patches with my M5 ...vacation kept me away from doing it, and now work is seriously impeding my time as well.

From Behdny- yur. i like the idea of the M5, but i wouldn't want it wothout the looper. the different scenes make a big difference to me too.

i dunno about the custom stuff. the thing i like about the Pedlaltrain boards is they are VERY sturdy and relatively light. i think someone'd be hard pressed to be able to cast metal like that in a custom design without it beig CRAZY expensive. lulz. and i don't trust myself to stay with one setup.

i kinda dig the Gorm stuff, but i want a reliable case that i can feel safe putting it with a bunch of other gear in a trailer. custom boards rokk, i just don't think they fit my situation.

kinda leaning towards two PT-1's. hurm.
(sorry i don't know how to quote, no clue if i did that right)
I don't know that much about the modern pedaltrain stuff. I got mine used off of ebay and it's the original but it came with a hard case but I have no clue what it actually is...
Anyways I was wondering if anyone had any interest/experience in the small sound/big sound F@&% OVERDRIVE. ?

gussah - for sure homie! i remember that patch, and liked it, but it was WAY less options than Goaty has. FedeX says my M9 will be here next Monday, so i'll report in then.

MaRquIem for a Dream (2nd. most depressing movie. EVAH) - i'm a HUGE fan of SS/BS stuff. HUGE. i had a Derty Word OD when they first came out. very cool pedal. first version the difference between "Blown Speaker Mode" on and off was pretty subtle. Brian did some tweaks to it, and it was WAY better. it ended up not being what i was looking for in an OD, but i see what he's doin', and i LIKE it. it's a nasty (in the best way possible), NASTY thing.
