You can always turn it down. The Bass Blocks have a reputation for having plenty of volume available. I run mine with an efficient 4 ohm 2x12 and I haven't needed more than ~150 watts with a hard hitting drummer, even in outdoor situations.

Yes. You'll be able to shake the walls of the whole building if you want, but don't worry there's a master volume knob, so you can reduce the volume as much as you need.

I play in a large rehearsal studio with a 8ohm 1x12 cab against a drummer and two guitarists, and I never go past 9AM on the master volume.
I can't think of any situation where this amp would not have enough volume.

Lol I mean will it be too loud to jam with in a house. For reference, I generally play my Little Mark Vintage 500 into 8ohm at about 1pm on gain and anywhere from 10am-1pm on volume. This thing has about 100w more power at 8ohm tho. I have sort of a weird mental block about playing amps with the volume one 1.

I had the BB800 before the 803. I've always played them with "the volume on 1", so if I could buy a Bass Block 500 or even 300, I would. But since there's no smaller Bass Block, I'm happy with 800W because they sound so good. Honestly it's not a big issue.

It might be a decibel or two louder than your Markbass, but most of that potential volume exists past noon on the master volume. Most of the volume will present itself an extra bass so you can cut the bass on the amp and there you are, right where you were.

You have to get over the hangup of not using an amp on any specific setting, they are all designed differently and sometimes 1 is what you need. Use your ears, not your eyes.

This is probably what I'll do. It looks like exactly what I'm looking for other than if they had a 500w that would be perfect. Currently between this and a GK Legacy.

I use my V803 with a 4ohm RevSound 2x10 with my band (2 guitars and drums) and also at home to practice at low volume through a Barefaced One10 and it sounds great in both situations.

@BooshBass — If you've played through other heads where lower volume tone was either lacking or had a really small usability window and either of those are your concerns, rest assured the 803 doesn't have either of those issues. It's very good as a practice and gigging amp.

I agree. One of the nice things of the Quilter Bass Blocks is that they sound equaly good at any level (from super quite bedroom level to super loud), which is not the case of all other amps.

You cannot compare knob positions between different brand amps - it means literally nothing.

Some potentiometers will put you at 95% of available volume within the first 60% of turning the knob.

It is pretty low. I had one for a while and the noise floor/hiss on the 500 was more than I wanted at the volume setting required to be heard. I ended up moving on to the 1200 which is Godzilla. Massive overkill. The 800 is the sweet spot for the new GK amps IMHO. The GK has an aggressive native voice with the knobs at noon but it can be tamed easily enough. Great amps, but I'd suggest getting the 800 over the 500 unless price is an issue.

My Legacy, Quilter and Mesa D-800+ are all 800 watts. I see no downside to that power level, used sensibly, even into a single 8 ohm cab. …not that you couldn't get by with less.

So the Bass cut is pretty much what a HPF would do ???? Which ,imho, would be good, although a separate control better.
Any idea if this is the same on v802?

No worries. Next I'll redo through the DI and see if they match.

Note that it only looks like a HPF at full. But no frequency choice. At 9 o'clock, it just looked like a shelf.

No idea on the 802.
