The Thumpinator takes out everything below 30hz so is quite subtle in comparison to the Fdeck.
I really like the HPF setting on the Quilter. I'd like to see the slope, but whatever, it's very well thought out.
I have had a Thumpinator for quite a while. I like it. It really does clean up the low thumps..

I think that would disqualify it for me.
I use a Radial DI box between my pedal board and the BB800 so no worries for me.
My bass signal is FOH-ready from the pedal board and the BB800's front knobs are for my on-stage monitoring benefit only.

I currently just have my bass guitar plugged directly into the input of my combo amp & run out of its DI to the PA.
I don't own a standalone DI box, but I really should as if my amp goes down, I could just run through the PA.
I'm pretty sure one of our band's guitarists has one that he doesn't use, but still, I should pick up a decent one for a back up.

Another bassist had his Mesa Subway at the jam that I had brought my BB800 to a week prior. It was clipping at a volume similar to the previous week. All knobs were in the 10-2 range and the same cabinet was being used.(An Ampeg 4X10) My Quilter was at 7 on the gain and about 11 o'clock on the master the week before. It had a TON of headroom. Interesting, no?
So your telling me that if the bass and low mid knobs on that Subway had been dimed it wouldn't have affected the headroom of the power amp? Or conversely if the had been turned all the way down and the gain and master volumes were in the same position that the power amp would still be clipping. We are talking about an active boost and cut tone circuit here
Sorry, I was thinking comparing input/gain + master volume between two different brands amps.
Of course, EQ knob positions matter.
The headroom on the quilter is quite impressive,i would compare it more along the lines of a Gk Mb800 fusion. It's got a lot under the hood serious huevos.
The BB800 exhibits super powers that set it apart from other amps in its class.
The dual-stage limiter is a great contributor towards this, but the underlying Quilter power section is both relentless and monstrous!

Now that it's been out for a hot sec, i'm curious:
Is the flat setting on the Bass Block actually frequency flat, or is it manufacturer's flat?

My experiments comparing front panel 1/4" IN and rear XLR LINE IN showed the signal to be identically flat when the front panel EQ was flat. As long as the dual-stage limiter was not in-effect to tip the scale, the signals were identical.
The BB800 has no baked-in tone, but instead has a wonderful heft when the limiter is active.
