As long as you don't stop roasting coffee. One day, I must taste the fruits of your labor.
Buldog, I should like to make a joke about my tasting the fruits of YOUR labor.
But I quit this forum!

this is both hilarious (even if its satire was not intended, perhaps more so if it was not intended as satire) but also provocative of thoughts on The Right to be Offended possessed by all groups spanning from Recent PETA Video Viewer Vegan Converts to Homophobic Hillbillies Sick of Being Told that Everything they Do in Life and Believe is Wrong, Black Men Sick of Being Looked at Like They're Criminals to... well, I think maybe White Frat Boys might never have any right to be offended by anything... maybe if one is actually falsely accused of some offense that is typical of WFBs, I guess. You know I REALLY wanted to let the "mansplaining" thing go, but Talkbass is such a great space and one of the few places that is refreshingly devoid of "victim/identity politics".
OP, maybe you don't realize how offensive the term is. Fair enough. But, I've got to say that I am not cool with a slur that attempts to point up an inherent flaw in ALL men as to how they communicate in a malicious manner towards women because it's simply not true. And, if you would not single out another identifiable group and write, for example, Womansplaining, Jewsplaining, Blacksplaining, Arabsplaining, Asiansplaining, Muslimsplaining, NativeAmericansplaining, Transsplaining, Gaysplaining, Christiansplaining, etc., then it is not OK to do this to men.
they really are at least as different as a double bassist and a bass guitarist. I have learned drumkit pretty well and some rudimentary percussion stuff, and I'll tell you, if you've got the knack for shakers, I am fricken jealous. I have spent hours and hours and still lose my way before thirty seconds of trying to hold a steady groove.drummer not a percussionis
I get that, I've tried playing a shaker and there is nothing easy about it!they really are at least as different as a double bassist and a bass guitarist. Y'all, this is OP on the bass.
I don't think she should quit. Do you?

Urk. This track.
That’s me on the harp at the end too, for what it’s worth.
I suppose it’s grown on me some, what with being the only actual sample of my work that made it outside of my bedroom, but I still feel like the song was fine without me in there competing with the piano for the low end. I all but begged to be removed from the track, but the artist politely ignored my plea and posted it anyway.
Now it hangs over me, daring me to redeem myself.
That, and my empty Soundcloud, which at present only features an audio clip of pickup noise I posted so TBers could help me fix it.
Those two tracks comprise my entire body of published work. The rest of it disappears into the aether after every lonely loop session.

Found a toy glockenspiel a few days ago and I’m having a blast incorporating that, too.
If actually being a competent bassist was a requirement for membership, I suspect we’d lose most of our more prominent posters.

I'm standing... right... here...
... posting.

I think your playing is fine. The kick drum and the bass are completely buried in the mix. Piano really eats up the mix. I would vote for less piano and more rhythm section.Urk. This track.

Because of my age, I felt that this shaker is the most appropriate for me.

The bass sounds fine to me, just a little low in the mix. I'm sure whoever mixed it was happy with the balance but it isn't for everyone.
