R Basses

It will ship to me on Monday.
Should be to me sometime end of next week or so.

Well, I guess your loss Tumbao is my gain- sorta!
Not a loss really, because your getting exactly what you want.
And thats what counts.

So, anyone ever have any issues with Ray??
He shipped the bass on Monday.
Priority mail.
2-3 days.
Gives me the insurance tracking number.
Thursday no bass. Call him, we talk, wait until Friday.
Friday no bass. Call him, go to the post office that delivers to my office (where I had him ship it to).
They have nothing pending to be delivered on Saturday.
They also have no record of the insurance number. It doesn't come up as anything.
So, talk to Ray (who BTW, seems like a real nice guy and kinda pissed as he paid for priority and it looks like it isn't now!) and we agree to wiat until Monday (tomorrow).

We'll see.
I'll post up tomorrow and/or Tuesday as to what the outcome is.
No panicing yet, just curious as to any other things that may have been floating around out there.
He told me "no later than the end of the week, actually should be there Thursday at the latest".

BTW, my upright should be in his hands tomorrow.
I shipped UPS and tracked it every step.

Sounds about par for the course, there usually seems to be a minor blackhole in the shipping process. I have always received an instrument, I assume you should kinda soon.

I agree.
(PM'd you BTW)

I got a real comfy feeling from talking to Ray.
Super nice guy.
Just curious thats all.
Small talk.

Dude:
Monkey Navigated Robots- killin'!!!!
Love you guys!!

what do you guys would preffer? an Rbass or a MTD 535?

Had both, multiples, and they are nothing like each other. Resale, the MTD is probably gonna be stronger. Playing wise, well, I ended up moving my MTD, although it was a personal choice, nothing against the MTD. The MTD had that bart/bart sound, which didn't really stand out for me all that much. Also, I don't think there are many 35" R basses.

So back to the point....they aren't very similar.

I was waiting on some basses from Ray which were shipped the same day, I believe we have been dealing with USPS shennenigans, however, I got my notice to pick up my stuff from the post office yesterday, so I will go get it today. I imagine Mike may not be far off.

This is not the first or second time USPS from PR has had issues, but I have always received my items. 2 weeks later.....but definitely gotten them......

Well, I have it. Got it this morning.
So far, WOW!!!!!!!
This thing is built as well as a lot of other "high end" basses I've played and owned.
The fit and finish is about as good as it gets. I'm not kidding here. It really is that good.
I haven't had a chance to plug it in yet, but unplugged it sounds darn good!
I'll chime in more either later tonight or tomorrow on the plugged in tone.
Again, this thing has all the "fit and finish" qualities that we love in our high end basses.
I know there are guys here who take MAJOR issues with Ray for various reasons, and thats fine, but there isn't any denying how this thing is built.
Ray knows how to build a bass.

Very cool! I was wondering when that was going to show up. I hope I get to play it soon.

K

Well, had a chance to plug it in for a few at LDS today.
WOW!!!
This thing sounds great!!
Those Nordy's are killin' (passive BTW- no pre, just V/V/T)
Plays great too.
Neck is real nice on this bass.
Mwah and growl for days.

If I was in a position to keep this bass, I don't think I would look back to getting another F Bass BNF5 (which that and my old wenge neck-thru Warwick Thumb fretless 5 were the best I've ever played/owned).

This thing is sweet.

So, I'll say it here first and post it sometime later (after I play it for a few!! :)), but this bass sadly, looks like it has to be sold.
Unless Baby (my wife) says other wise, we're not out of the woods money wise just yet.

At over $3000 new- and it is, I got it right from Ray himself, someone will get a great deal on this.
