ive always loved rays work. i played one of his older monarch-esque 4 string with a walnut top and birseye board with abrts and a haz labs pre. it was amazing!!!!....oh yeah, rockin the 33" scale as well. i was planning on buying it form the bass palac e but i missed out.

I think I know that bass...sounds like one I have at home...(Pickup covers/knobs/ramp all new)

gorgeous additions to an already killer bass will!

the swammi at the bass palace ahd it marked down to around 1700 before it sold....i was so close. good to knwo it found a good home though. im not too bitter...as im currently orderign a custom singlecut form a different builder:-P

i was close to makigna deal with a guy form PA who was sellign a similar shaped 4 string with a bart pj setup, hazlabs pre and a butternut top. gorgeous. if you happen to have that oen layign aroudn too and want to unload it....you know hwo to reach me;-)

p.s. my singlecut is gogint o have a similar setup. figured walnut top, birdseye board, birdseye pickup covers, nordstrand dual coils, audhere 4 band preamp, 33" scale, 5 string strung E-C...cant wait!....but yes, back to ray's work....more pics would be lovely. haha

Yo man! I'm good, what's up in Deeetroit?

Eh, I swapped something for it...I'm having trouble remembering. Birdseye maple board/ugly imbuya top/alder. It had Nordies under the wood covers, but now I've got Bart X4CBC's back in there (much better). I yanked the preamp out and run it through my Fodera box. It wasn't a Hazlabs pre, it was a Bart. Bob at Basspalace said it was a Haz when he had it...imagine...Swami misrepresent something...:rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

Hey GK, your single cut sounds awesome. Who is making it?

probabaly martin keith, a young builder that works for joe veilette out of woodstock ny. he's starting to do some of his own stuff too and does amazing work. i helped organize a g2g in upstate ny recently and he brought a few of his basses and gave me some serious gas.

i forgot to mention...the body is goign to be chambered ash, with a 3 piece bolt on neck, maple with a wenge stringer. im not 100% set on the top yet. i might go with some sort of burl, or the figured walnut. and i think i might get a birdseye ramp to go between the birdseye pickups:-P give it a nice matt garrison/richard bona vibe.

Thats the bass.
Myrtle top, flame alder body, macasscar ebony fingerboard, Nordy N5J p/ups (passive BTW- with wood covers), I forgot the neck make-up- maple ebony and some other stuff.

Looks like it's a done deal as well.

I'll know 100% tonight.

I'll throw up a pic later.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention.
The reason I was getting rid of my BSX is to raise funds for anticipated tax debt next year (due to me being off work and disability not taking out federal taxes- sucks!)

Anyway, I'll say this now, this is a brand new bass and knowing what may be the case, it will more than likly be up on the chopping block unless it's the baddest thing I ever played (and then something else will go!);) .

So, at +$3000 new, someone is gonna get a good deal if they are interested in a few months.

Hate to be that way, but thats just my world right now.

I hope things will change!

So seriously for your sake, keep in mind what has been said about resale on R basses to make sure you will come out fine in the end. As a guy who has done that a couple of times, that is just the economics of the brand, you can get close but its a REAL pain to get really close to the new price on those guys. Also, if it is passive, keep that in mind as well (though personally I would be stoked about it being passive),

Just saying, if you are thinking about your taxes........

I don't think the passive thing will make any difference for resale truthfully, but I would expect it to go for $2000-$2100 used/mint. I just haven't seen a used R-Bass go for much more than that. Great basses but I don't think the brand appeal is there for most people. I don't know if the fretless aspect would make it more or less saleable.

To be honest, $2000-ish would be fine.
I hope something can be worked out and maybe hang on to it if it's nice, but I'm not thinking exactly that way.
I'll play it until I have to make it go away.
But to be honest, I'm kinda fired up about it!!

Those figures sound right, and if it comes to that at least drop me a line, I usually got a couple of random nice things that I would love to talk to you about should it go that way!!!
