What terrible news. I discovered Rush around 1981 when I was 11 years old. Rush's music and Neil's lyrics have been the soundtrack of my life ever since. He gave everything and more to his fans for decades, and carried on touring despite the obvious wear and tear. He was an intensely private individual, yet he bared his soul through his music and books. I'm truly saddened for his family – I hope he was able to say goodbye on his own terms. Neil will be greatly missed. I'm sure he'd scoff at the notion of being called immortal, but he'll surely live on...

Really hard to process this. I literally lived on Rush for most of my adolescent and adult years through about 30. Still daily listen to some Rush. Neil's drum rhythms are seared into my brain.
Hard to see our idols pass on, some harder than others. Hope Geddy and Alex live a long time.
