Pretty great vids from Toronto 2 days earlier. Even a rendition of Vaseline that redeems that last performance that went around. This guy has 4 vids from that night on his channel. Last performance.
I hate most of the music from the 90s but Weiland was one of the few who could actually sing. Very few people know that he also sang a lot of traditional standards and even released a Christmas album. Here he is on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno singing "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas". Much better voice than most of us realized.
If I recall correctly, the DeLeo brothers were the youngest of 5 or 6 kids, and grew up listening to their older siblings records, including not just Zeppelin, et al, but also Motown, Punk, even Ragtime and Bossa Nova music. (Uh, their parents, I'd assume.)
The chord progression used in 'Plush', comes from Ragtime music. I think it would be safe to say that Robert is somewhat underrated, as a Bassist/Composer, compared to many of his 90s contemporaries.
IMHO, they cover more ground stylistically, than any other band of that era.
Funny you should say that. When I chatted with Robert at that music store, he told me how much he liked to go hunting various shops, looking for vintage Japanese/ budget type instruments, and, when he found one that played and sounded good, he'd buy it, and use them when tracking an album. That's an old japanese made bass. His one is branded 'Orlando'. I have the exact same bass, but it's badged 'Pan'. He acually plays it on some STP recordings. The song Atlanta from their No.4 album features this bass. It has a nice deep tone.

Is it solid body or semi-hollow? On the clip it looks thin and dense - like a solid body.

Soundgarden and Pearl Jam??
Alcohol is a curse upon humanityAn amazing drummer I play with in one of my bands is a bi-polar refugee form the LA rehab scene. Unfortunately, he's just getting out of jail (30 days) for a second DUI.
Jeebus. That was a rough read this morning.Read Invalid Link Removed from Scott Weiland's ex-wife, Mary Forsberg Weiland. She's the mother of Scott's two children. And her words on Scott's passing and the life he was leading are uncomfortable, but extremely powerful.
Note that the article was written by his first wife, not the second wife.
What I find so sad is despite Weiland's history, Forsberg married a known heroine addict who nearly died of a fatal overdose just 3 years prior to their marriage. Two years prior he was in rehab. Now, normally in my world that's a time in which people usually date and get to know each other before getting married. Perhaps Mary never saw Scott for anything other than a brilliant, talented musician, as she married him the same year he was divorced from his first wife?
