There were short runs of many different basses by fender. lets's see some of them.

Please include a model, yeart, and a brief description (or long one if you want) of why it was rare. It could look like a regular fender bass even, as long as you explain it (50th anniversary p bass custom shop #7 of only 50 or something like that.) That would mostly look like a regular p bass though.

Probably the only regular continuous production run basses that should be here are pre cbs basses ebacuse they are fairly rare. But if you have a later fender in a custom color or it has non-regular features, or it's a non-regular model it would be just fine.

That is without a doubt the most un-Fenderly Fender I have ever seen.

The local musicstore in my small home town had a pair of those back in the day. They were actually pretty cool. This was a weird period for fender, they had the performer bass and the Katana guitar, which was also very unfender-like.

Oh, I remember DROOLING over the Fender Lead I and II guitars...

I remember the ad- like a shipping crate with the guitars sitting on packing straw...

No picture yet, but how about a 1983 (US) Vintage Series '62 Precsion...

It was a standard color option for the early Fullerton Vintage series, but I've never seen another one. It came into the store I managed along with about 25 other new Fenders when they finally got the back-orders filled from about a year earlier.

Well that depends on your definition of "good" I like it with flats and it can sound very agressive with rounds.

From what I learned from another member on this board when I posted a thread about it, they ran from 1988 to 1995?. They have active EQ and are a cross between the Pbass and the Jazz.

I initially started out looking for a Fender Performer but ran across this instead. Fender Precision 'Special' and from what I've learned the ones that came with no pickguard are called Precision Plus. Don't quote me on that as I'm still learning about them

BTW, there was also a Katana Bass having the same neck as the Performer, it's a rare bird indeed.

I got one for ya'll. This is a complete custom shop Fender. I believe this was built for the bass player from Alien Ant Farm. I remember reading the information next to it and seeing in relation to that.
