Looks good! Depending on how much of the Glitter Blast you applied, you might find you have a difficult time covering it with enough clear. I recently did one entirely in orange Glitter Blast, and after 3.5 cans of gloss clear, it still had a slightly bumpy, textured look, even after polishing. It takes a LOT of clear to cover glitter, which is why I likely won't do it again.

This is gold glitter-blast over red oxide. If shot over Fiesta red, it should mute it to a coral shade.

This is red oxide - a darker brick red - the gold glitter-blast warms it up and mutes it to a more orange tint - final coated with satin clear nitro/lacquer.

I also use an old bike stand for painting, works great.

That looks really great!

Got a project in the works myself but thinking I'll offsite the clear coat to someone who knows what they're doing. I've found that pickguards and headstocks are the limits for me to clear.

Thanks! This one really wasn't difficult. Minwax satin lacquer is easy to spray, and it didn't require any final sanding or polishing since I wanted the matte look. I'd keep it, but I'm not a Jazz Bass guy, so I'm going to sell.

It's not like a Marty Bell sparkle finish - much more subtle as the glitter is smaller particles. A "pseudo-color shift" wouldn't really occur - just a blend of the different glitter-blast colours. The 'colour shift' paints are very expensive and can only be pulled off by an experienced sprayer.

:) Thanks! I've never owned/played a Stingray so I can't say. The dark one is a single-coil (DS/B-S) and Singray's are buckers. The lighter one has a T-45 pu which is a bucker, so not like a P-bass. Both have their own character I guess.

i just stay a foot back used gravity.. to put the glitter on.. then I mix a little fuser over top.. cause it act like a bit of filler.. and bonding agent. then the sealer seem to work.. don't use sooo much glitter blast though

If you have something creative in your mind for your bass then do it. In my opinion it's not as easy as some folks make it out to be but I love my custom painted Musicmaster. That one was painted by my son and my daughters are now working on a Mustang one for me, getting all the kids involved. I just outsource the clear coat because that process escapes my talents.

I think there's too many black, brown sunburst, and tort in the world. Embrace something your own.

STOP IT! I don't need a candy blue P bass or a dark silver sterling! I actually passed on a Squire Matt Freeman for $200 today. I must be getting better.

You DO need a candy blue P or dark silver sterling if that's what you're looking for.

Fight the stagnancy of black, brown sunbursts and tort. Colors are a good thing.

When I do my refin projects, I always choose colors that aren’t easily found in production. I’ve been using Squiers exclusively as refin projects since they’re inexpensive and only come in 3 or 4 colors. Lots of room to get creative with those!

I love the squier bronco necks, put one on my Musicmaster body in my avatar. And have one going on a Mustang body in the current project. So smooth to play on with these old digits.
