Really really small amp!

Don't laugh. If you really want to save space and have a completely multi-use item, get a JBL Charge 4 Bluetooth speaker and a preamp pedal. I sometimes play through my son's Charge 4 via the 3.5 mm connector and it sounds great. Oddly and satisfyingly very good.
I agree with the bluetooth speaker suggestion, especially because it saves space and is multi-use. Another option to consider is whether the car stereo you'll have includes an 1/8" stereo input jack. An interface through a phone or a tablet into the car stereo may be all you need. Good luck, and enjoy!

I have never played through the Phil Jones Double Four, but as someone who has played actual gigs (in a trio, with guitar & drums) using Phil Jones combos with two 5" speakers in them, I would wholeheartedly recommend the Double Four for your purposes.

Lots of advice, lots to recommend, but what exactly is it that you want it to do??? That would sure help.

And after having camped in everything from a tiny pop-up to a large 5th wheel, one thing can be said; if you really want to take something with you bad enough, you'll figure out where to put it and/or make room for it somehow. You wouldn't believe how much crap my wife had stuffed in the little pop-up!

And for what it's worth, weight probably isn't really as much of a concern as size is unless your tow vehicle is undersized for the trailer, in which case you have bigger issues.

Think outside the box; literally! If you're in your camper or outside, your tow vehicle makes a good storage closet; likewise, when on the road, you're not in the camper, put it there. Then like the Boar's Head commercials state: compromise elsewhere.

I have seen those on eBay and figured “junk”. Looking at them again now, they might be ok for some things.

I bought one simply because they're so cheap and offers a lot of benefits for practice and portability. It can run off battery power (a number of AAs inserted into the back if I remember correctly). It has decent tone; certainly good enough to actually hear the fidelity of your bass. And it has enough power to be adequately heard for practice, including the low notes. Not sub, but at least my 4-stringers sound pretty decent.

Honestly, it works surprisingly well. It's a nice balance of power and tone. Hits the mark at a low price point. It's no world beater but certainly a couple steps above the tiny battery powered amps out there.

All I'm looking for is to set up a small amp on a table, sit in a camp chair, and noodle around. Just something to keep my chops up. I'm not looking to play gigs while on the road. We're going to be explorers, and as the song says we've gone out to look for America. I'm thinking of the Joyo MA-10B. Small, inexpensive, and just put it on the table and play.

For that purpose, I recommend it. You won't worry about damaging it on the road (plastic box with a metal grill), but you'll get some decent quality portable tone. It doesn't have an eq. Just a tone knob which I find fairly effective, but it does have separate gain and volume controls if you want a bit of that faux OD feel. Plus an OD button for a lot of that faux OD feel.

EDIT: Oh, and it's very light! Could buy a strap and and wear it if you want to rock the truly portable experience!

Bassman28 just demoed the Trace 1x8 combo built in. Absolutely blew me away. Loud enough for a small room. Plug it into a good 8ohm cab and it will carry a ton of rooms. I can now understand why the big rigs are just not selling and moving. Kinda sad really.
