Reasonable? Unreasonable?

Unless you specifically arranged a shipping method that would have got it to you in under a week you should just wait and be grateful that it's on its way.
The seller isn't a corporation with a shipping department so don't treat them like one.

So only corporations have to be competent and held accountable? Seller decided to put this up, so unless he has a transporter like Star Trek, he knew it had to be shipped.

He was charged twice the shipping cost and received it late according to his estimate from the buyer.

High cost of low expectations, maybe, but more concerned with anyone bashing a corporation while making their competition less accountable.

With a little bit of luck you will likely have a few more weekends. Chill bro.
I’ll be sure to share your sentiment with my oncologist the next time I see him. Exactly how much luck do you suggest? Luckily, pun intended, I’m doing quite well, although the surgery was a bitch. But I digress...

I assure you, I’m quite chilled.

Wow, you expect him to stop everything and ship it immediately ?
Lighten up. Like others have said, you need to chill out a little.
See above post.

Also, I don’t consider 2-3 days dropping everything. Perhaps you should chill out a little. It took my prompt payment and arguably slow shipping to irritate me, you seemed to have gotten worked up over a pretty minor post.

I purchased a piece of gear off of Reverb on Sunday. Didn’t hear anything from seller until I emailed him on Wednesday; he responded that it will be sent out the next day. Per tracking number, the item was shipped Friday and will be here Monday. I’m unhappy because, working Monday through Friday, my expectation was I’d have it at least by Friday so I could play with it over the weekend (I’m a few hours drive from seller, so USPS would get it to me in two days). On top of that, it’s replacing a critical piece of recording gear that recently died on me and I cannot do without it, so no recording this weekend. Not sure if this matters, but the shipping charge was twice the actual cost of shipping, but I was happy with the total price anyway. I considered emailing him to let him know that I’m going to mention this in my feedback and see what he says. He’s a relatively new seller so this will lower his overall rating. Obviously nothing will change the fact that I’m getting it more than a week after I bought it (thanks amazon for distorting my expectations) but I’m still unhappy about it. Am I being reasonable or unreasonable about the shipping?
Having bought and sold a lot of used gear over the years and a week ain’t that bad imo. I’m much more forgiving about delayed shipment of used gear from a person who probably has their own responsibilities; job, family, and so on. Buying new of course that IS their job so it’s a bit of a different story but yeah I wouldn’t make a big deal about that. Personally when I sell gear on eBay I even put estimated shipping date in the listing so if someone does “buy it now” for example and the item sells before the end of the auction I’m not freaking out trying to haul tail to the ups on on my lunch break. Now if it was two weeks I’d totally be on your side about it.

Another course of action is no action at all. Don’t leave any feedback. It won’t effect the seller in a negative way, yet the slow shipping isn’t worthy of positive feedback.
I got a good price and in he did get back to me right away. I've pretty much been leaning toward an email and positive feedback. I don't want to lower the guy's rating over a couple of days. I do agree that no feedback is better than negative.

It seems to me that your disappointment comes from your own expectations, that were never confirmed by the seller.

I don’t think they are an unreasonable set of expectations to have these days, but I don’t see why the seller should be penalized in any way for them. if they had not been discussed prior to the purchase, how are they to know?
I’m old enough to remember when ordering anything to be delivered to my house took 4-6 weeks!

Personally if I was bothered by the transaction I would write the seller an email, trying to give some helpful pointers if they plan on doing much more online selling. And probably not leave any feedback at all.

Unreasonable. It's understandable to be a little annoyed at something like this, but it's not something that calls for complaining to him or lowering his Reverb rating. Exercising a little grace and patience costs you nothing, and complaining won't get you your gear any faster.

Reverb policy is to ship by third day, unless something else mutually agreed upon. People bagging on the buyer are on the wrong side of this issue.

My personal way of dealing with things is to give seller a full three days grace period. My message on the fourth day is, “When may I expect this item to ship?” If another day or two, I accept that. But it damned well better ship when they say it would. After all, they volunteered the ship date, not me.

I hate dog-ate-my-homework excuses. There’s two kinds of people in the world: people who do what they say they are going to do, and everybody else. Don’t like it? Don’t take my money.

I generally give five stars or no rating at all, unless the seller was unethical in some way.

Oh no, things happen. Life goes on.

I don't mean to come off as a snob but why is that the seller's problem?

I'm sorry you're in a bit of a bind. I know how much that sucks. But this just feels like ranting and raving for the sake of ranting and raving. You expected the world to stop so that you can get your instantaneous service and had to wait for processing and shipping. It happens.

If the work you do is "mission critical", it is your responsibility to have backup gear to minimize the down time. IT workers have backup hard drives so that they don't have to stop working and lose money. So in your case, it's your responsibility to have a backup instrument / amp / whatever so that you can plan ahead for a rainy day.

lol Dude, please. OP said this irritated him and asked if others thought it was reasonable to ding the seller's feedback. Personally I think not, but the OP is hardly "ranting and raving."

IIRC, he asked the question if it is reasonable or unreasonable. I explained why I think it's unreasonable. It sounds like ranting and raving rather than a genuine grievance. At least, to me it sounds like that. But that's just my opinion and we can express it. Freedom is great.

I wouldn’t be happy about the lack of communication after the sale. It makes me wonder how long they would have waited to ship if you hadn’t given a nudge.

I also have a low threshold for overcharging on shipping. I understand that brand new packing materials don’t grow on trees, but the idea that I am supposed to be factoring in some sort of additional wage for the seller’s time is ludicrous. I get irked when I am charged $15 in shipping on something that arrives in a bubble envelope with $5 on it.

In the end, though... if I got what I wanted and the total out-of-pocket cost was acceptable, there really isn’t more that I can do besides shake my fist at the sky for a moment and move on.
