Recommend a lightweight bass amp for a retiree

But why? The 500 watts is available only if I add an extension cab, which I have no plans (or money) for. I think for my modest means 200 watts, even maybe as low as 150 watts would suffice. Remember I played many gigs with that 100-watt Ba-115 but I just needed a little more "oomph" at a few venues. But for jams, I think this will would be fine, even something like the BA-115 would be fine. But not its 62 pounds.

Fender Rumble 500 2x10" 500-watt Bass Combo Amp


The 500 combo has more headroom. To me it's worth a few more bucks to have that extra.

I've heard that Rumble in venues with a loud drummer and it holds it's own. More than likey over time he won't be satisfied with just the one speaker and will add another cab, but it's a good place to start. ;)

The Gallien Krueger MB112 200watts 12" 30lbs. No provision for extension cab, but you can use a GK powered speaker. Pretty much unavailable at the moment, but there might be some out there. There are a fair number of shops offering stock they haven't got, so be wary.

I did not list a weight requirement except to say I did like that the BG250 was about 35 pounds so that is what I'm shooting for. Again, I'm 73 and not in real good shape.

I have a chance to get one used for about $180 but it would be a long drive. However on used equipment I like to get it from some retailer with a return policy and this is from a private seller.
