^ I believe it is protected from phantom power
It's somewhere in this thread but Phantom power won't hurt the REDDI.
Thanks...I think. Just eliminated one more reason I was hesitating...
I may do something stupid...wish my Geddy Lee jazz would sell.
I just checked out Tony Levin playing active and passive basses through a bunch of different DI boxes including a REDDI and wow, it's very telling.

It was interesting to hear that there were a couple of the more colored ones that to my ears are right up there with the REDDI. Honestly though the REDDI is what I think I would have picked in a blind test. This test also documents and confirms that there is a indeed very remarkable difference between the REDDI and the JDI/Type 85 kinda boxes I'd been satisfied with for years.
Although this is a studio test it clearly justifies using a REDDI live. If someone had done a similar studio test that so definitively showed the same differences between outboard preamps there would be no question in most people's minds but that they would use live what sounded best.

Hi Steve...
Try with a decent set of headphones (not buds) but a good set of cans. Curious if you still don't.
I used some "OK" cans...I could hear more of a difference, but I'm not sure if it's enough in my situation to be worth it.
