REDDI Tube DI Mega-thread-III

RackREDDI is cool and thank you!

It will be considered :)

I still am liking BUDDIE :hyper:

The real reason for doing this, is again........so many people, even here on TB ask how to rack a REDDI and this is one way to do it.

There are MUTE switches for each side so you can have one bass active and playing with the other REDDI to go just flip the mute.

REDDI has positive name recognition and reputation. Why not continue the name with the new device? In addition to rackREDDI:

• 2 REDDI (double entendre potentials: more than ready, chomping at the bit to go, well prepared, etc)

• REDDI 2, as in T=REDDI 2, (whereby T=tone, a play on E=mc2). Envisioning a tee shirt with a collage of Einstein's face and crazy hair, REDDI 2, and formula T = REDDI 2. Or, it could be Peter Montessi's (or Reggie Hamilton's) face combined with Einstein's crazy hair superimposed.

• REDDI.2

• Finally, you could just call it REDDI. Everyone will quickly understand the model differences, just by looking.

Cheers!

2 REDDI's together... they're buddies.

I'm on the look out for my second REDDI for stereo keys so a product like this definitely has a market. Heck, I could see having the BUDDI in my studio and using the REDDI just for stage, at other studios and as a backup to the BUDDI. Hmmm...

For me, I'd like to see a rack version better executed. I would have no use for two REDDI's, but I would have a use for a rack mount version. It almost looks like you could fit four into that 2U space. The entire right side looks like a lot of wasted space.

What would be cool is if you could make a different case for the current REDDI that was 2U tall. On the sides of the unit it could have some screw holes to mount rack ears. You could offer different size ears to accommodate 3-4 REDDIs side by side (however many will fit into a 19" rack), so those that could benefit from having more than one would easily be able to do so if they wanted and those that only need one would have an easy way to mount it in a rack if needed.

+1

Too many U's = Unuseful

It's a big DI. They are long and look pretty full - at least the shots I've seen. The transformer is big, room for tubes, etc. I have to guess that's whats on the "unused" side. Maybe Peter can post a pic of the guts.

I think a rack mount would be useful. Maybe offer a mono and stereo version?

I'd love to have a stereo one to do just what Kirk often does: run both a clean and a dirty channel into a console or other interface. I do that quite a bit now, but my dirty channel always gets the snub (no REDDI love for it, just a dirt pedal straight into the USB interface). And the rack mounted version would be my choice in my studio situation, too. Less fooling with wires, less having a REDDI dangle on top of a rack or the edge of a table top. Safe, secure and always wired up would be a big plus for my situation.

Color me excited!

I need to get rid of my VTDI and my OCD.. I dont use them anymore. And its new>
Im thinking of a new dirt pedal.. The Darkglass Vintage Tubes or what ever its called.. That into a REDDI would slam for a dirty channel.. The VT bass really gets help from the REDDI too.. I dont know how or why.. but it does.
Then the Clean REDDI is all the growl and DI ya need.. They are tight yet they still have bottom..
