So if the Khan DI does have a processed through signal to the amp, is the signal to the FOH compromised at all? (read: does the FOH get a less "tube-y" signal?)

The Khan uses one of those little Jensen output transformers or something similar, so its signal takes to being split better than the REDDI with its massive iron output transformer. For reasons unknown to me as an electronics know-nothing, splitting the REDDI's signal always results in a dilution of its sound in the PA so I've long given up on attempting it. I always say that the REDDI does one thing and one thing only, but it does it so incredibly well that I don't mind its narrow focus. I have amps I like already, so it's not important to me that my DI splits into my amp.So if the Khan DI does have a processed through signal to the amp, is the signal to the FOH compromised at all? Just spoke with musiciansfriend.com and asked about the lowest price they could sell the REDDI for. Salesperson said that A-Designs doesn't allow discounting. Anyone know of anywhere one can buy the DI for less than $745? Would like to order one ASAP. Thanks!
Did you end up favoring the Di or mic in the rough mixes?
Hahhahah Only messing with you...Mega apologies to svtb15, moderator JoshB (+ other mods), and Mr. Montessi, for the fuss I made way back in the original thread. I was certainly tilting at windmills then! Go figure. Oh well. Thankfully, better life goes on.
Have been using my REDDI live for two to three live performances per week since 08/13 purchase: bass to REDDI to FOH to Aviom mix to IEMs. Have experienced multi-venue great tone with zero issues.
Especially like REDDI’s one-knob operation to adjust send level. One knob adjusting great tone makes my life so much easier: I focus on my playing, band and audience interaction, with no more knob tweaking. Decent onboard pre on my 5-string helps me fine tune on the fly, yet that is rarely needed.
FOH guys love the tone and its mix position. I love the simplicity of achieving my tone, as well as straightforward, light load ins/outs. Before REDDI, I was using Avalon U5 or SMax 9.2 (DI section only, no cab), which were great, except I seemed overly concerned with tweaking settings. Also, had concerns about durability of all the knobs and switches on those units, as my DI typically sits on the floor in my live settings.
All in all, very happy with REDDI: great tone, plug and play, durable construction, and beauty in simplicity. REDDI rocks!
