REDDI Tube DI Mega-thread-III

So if the Khan DI does have a processed through signal to the amp, is the signal to the FOH compromised at all? (read: does the FOH get a less "tube-y" signal?)
The Khan uses one of those little Jensen output transformers or something similar, so its signal takes to being split better than the REDDI with its massive iron output transformer. For reasons unknown to me as an electronics know-nothing, splitting the REDDI's signal always results in a dilution of its sound in the PA so I've long given up on attempting it. I always say that the REDDI does one thing and one thing only, but it does it so incredibly well that I don't mind its narrow focus. I have amps I like already, so it's not important to me that my DI splits into my amp.

Just spoke with musiciansfriend.com and asked about the lowest price they could sell the REDDI for. Salesperson said that A-Designs doesn't allow discounting. Anyone know of anywhere one can buy the DI for less than $745? Would like to order one ASAP. Thanks!

I got really little discount that even not worth to tell simply because I purchased 2 at once. One for studio and one for show..

Meanwhile, I forget where to get mine.. I can tell you when I check my email history...

Did you end up favoring the Di or mic in the rough mixes?

The rough mix, just recording and listening through the monitors, they were at 50/50. We isolated each one during the recording session a few times. Of course there was a difference, but not drastic, and no immediate preference. 50/50 sounded great during the recording. I'm hoping to be there for the mixing session. I want to hear what gets favored, if either, the mic'd tube head or the REDDI. I'm sure I would be happy even if either one was used solo, but the right blend will be awesome.

Ummmmm. . . Munch, munch, munch. Eating mucho cuervo (crow) here: No Kool-Aid, either, although it might surely sweeten the taste.

Mega apologies to svtb15, moderator JoshB (+ other mods), and Mr. Montessi, for the fuss I made way back in the original thread. I was certainly tilting at windmills then! Go figure. Oh well. Thankfully, better life goes on.

Have been using my REDDI live for two to three live performances per week since 08/13 purchase: bass to REDDI to FOH to Aviom mix to IEMs. Have experienced multi-venue great tone with zero issues.

Especially like REDDI’s one-knob operation to adjust send level. One knob adjusting great tone makes my life so much easier: I focus on my playing, band and audience interaction, with no more knob tweaking. Decent onboard pre on my 5-string helps me fine tune on the fly, yet that is rarely needed.

FOH guys love the tone and its mix position. I love the simplicity of achieving my tone, as well as straightforward, light load ins/outs. Before REDDI, I was using Avalon U5 or SMax 9.2 (DI section only, no cab), which were great, except I seemed overly concerned with tweaking settings. Also, had concerns about durability of all the knobs and switches on those units, as my DI typically sits on the floor in my live settings.

All in all, very happy with REDDI: great tone, plug and play, durable construction, and beauty in simplicity. REDDI rocks!

Hate to be the I TOLD Ya SO..:hiding: Hahhahah Only messing with you...:D:D;););)
Yours is a great story.. Love it..
Yes..I Agree 100%, One knob operation to great tone.. I can concentrate on what i am getting paid to do..
Fantastic..
Ill be seeing Peter at the A-Design / Alleva Coppolo bass show in LA on April 5th... Its gonna be fun... !

I was told not to do this but I could use some help here.

We have been working on 3 new products that I will be showing at Jimmy's Event on the 5th of April.

I thought that showing just this one product wouldn't hurt :rollno:

I have a name for it but the one thing I need to know is do you think this will fly?

People tell me that they would like a rack mount of the REDDI and to just put one unit in a 19" was a waste of metal, space and costs.

Let me know what you think please?

PS.
I would like to call it "BUDDI"

It comes RackREDDI. :p

People in the industry know the name 'REDDI' I would think that it would be key to keep that name REDDI as part of the package from a marketing perspective.

That just my $.02

Not sure if it's blasphemy but I can just see the next logical step now....the first REDDI module being what's sent to the board, then daisy chaining the thru of that into the second REDDI which could be gain matched to an internal Demeter Minnie module (instead of an XLR out). Stick a good parametric EQ in front if you need any tone shaping. I'm frothing at the mouth over this thought!
