REDDI Tube DI Mega-thread-III

Has anyone tried running a Markbass Compressore in front of the REDDI? I just ordered one to try out. I love the REDDI but I do need some compression (the tube doesn't compress enough on its own).

I'm finally taking the REDDI to the recording studio next week. The studio hasn't used one yet, so they are also looking forward to hearing it.
I'm thinking about using the Compressore as well with it. Probably setting it with a medium threshold and low ratio, with a vintage Mullard 12AT7. Should sound really good, but maybe I won't need the Compressore at all.

My recording chain will be my best ever:
Rickenbacker 4003S > REDDI > Aguilar DB359 all tube head > Bergantino HT322. The mic will be a vintage AKG D12E. I can't wait to hear each track solo between the REDDI and the mic, then blend to taste. Not sure if the Compressore will be used or not. I usually like the cleanest and most direct signal for recording.

That sounds like an awesome chain. Looking forward to hearing the recordings.

After a 12 hour session with Dave Minehan of The Replacements.

He loves the REDDI and A-Designs

Just lent my Reddi to a friend for a recording. He said the engineer at first was hesitant (only liked to use his Avalon U5). He convinced him to A/B them. Can you guess which one they used to record the whole album (hint: it's red).

Awesome. Did you use anything before the REDDI, or just the bass?

Hi DJ
Just the bass (J type) but I also had a line going to a GK Fusion MB800 & NEO 212II. That I had MXR m87 in front with a couple of condensers (I believe).

I have put my whole pedal board in front of the REDDI before and don't mind it.

That's great. Thank you. Sounds like you usually put a compressor between the amp and the REDDI. Clean bass tone for the REDDI, lightly compressed for the amp. That's probably what I'll do on my next studio visit. Compressore pedal in between. I can't wait for the engineer to hear the REDDI.

Who's going.. I am.. Peter is. . The Alleva Coppolo Annual Bassacre in LA on April 5.
Peter Montessi will be there with his REDDI display and im sure a Ventura preamp or two...
There is usually a giveaway. At least there was last year.. Ive been to a few Bass Player live shows but ive NEVER been to The Alleva show.. Ive heard great things about the hang,
As i hear more i will let folks know about this. ..

A Pelican Storm iM2306 is a great case. I use a bigger Pelican Storm iM2500 that accommodates the REDDI, all my cables, mic, a TH350 head and works as a dolly for a Bag End s15 cab.

For a carrying just the REDDI to amp provided gigs I have a [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]. I can get a few cables, a mic, a tuner and the Barber Linden in it and it works well for me.
