REDDI Tube DI Mega-thread-III

Well I used it tonight with my active Ibanez SR Prestige 4005 bass and it sounded amazing. I couldn't believe the difference it made in the house sound and IEM. Honestly for the setup we have my band just waisted 2200.00 on a heritage cab and Ampeg 3pro setup for me when this Reddi has a better sound coming throughout the house and especially us already using IEM's. Wish I would have known sooner lol.

My Prestige has the custom USA Bartolini pickups and they was superb sounding through the Reddi.

I use mine Mostly with passive P or J basses BUT i use it on my Alleva Coppolo and Sadowsky active NYC basses too.. The front end can take a hard hit.. it runs very clean... It should have no issue with your Roscoe bass..

My prestige has the active-passive switch and honestly while both sounded good the active pups engaged sounded better to me. Give it a extra pop and boom.

Yeah but the 3 Pro and 410hlf are quite killer, too, and there will be situations where you need an amp. The REDDI does rock hard, but nothing wrong with a nice Ampeg rig

What was amazing last night is I started out with my bass set flat through the Reddi and then I experimented. I would max the bass out and went to the extreme with every setting I could do and still couldn't get a bad sound through the house. Before with low end more than half it would be very muddy but now the low end maxed through the Reddi was still clear and shook the walls lol. Awesome piece of gear and I think is a must have for anyone going through a good house system and especially if you use IEM.

Headroom is only one thing that the REDDI has that others do not.. It can take a huge hit... Like you said , you started Flat and then raised your bass, and it still sounded good.. And it will because the REDDI has Mucho HeadroomO...
A guy posted sound-clips , . .and he played them all very light and wimpy.
I asked for him to DIG IN and he became very offended. Im good at doing that to people but it is what it is.
Digging in does not mean to slam the heck out of your bass like an animal. .But that is another topic ..
But on pieces of gear like the REDDI, it has that Huge Iron Core transformer that does something and allows things thru without altering them in a negative way. And it is clean....
Its hard to explain to someone, You really have to listen to it in real life as you know... Its a feel thing... I've been using my #1 REDDI for about 10 years now.. It goes everywhere.. Honestly its not as easy as tossing a countrman in my gigbag BUT the sonic difference is such that it has become a part of my instrument chain.. irreplaceable .. church gig , to theater gigs to large 10k seats etc... and it make all IEM gigs something to look forward to...


Like JimmyM and his love of the SVT and their TUBEs and Big Iron Transformers. .He is right when he says Tubes are clean.. They certainty are clean.. Sure they can get dirty if pushed hard, but so can any solid state amp.
The REDDI is clean and 3D....
Someone said it earlier... "3D" is a very good way to describe what it does.. and that is how i describe it.. 3D

Maybe instead of another bass (seems my Roscoe should be good enough) I should try a REDDI. My only gig is church with FOH and IEM's.

Seems like a lot of people use these with passive basses - Precision and Jazz especially. How will it be with my active Bartolini Roscoe 5 string?

Sounds incredible with both my Roscoe 5's, one with Barts and one with Aguilar pups. You should really try one Steve. If I were closer I would let you borrow mine for a while.

I scored a awesome deal on a new one through my Sweetwater rep. Got it cheaper than what I've seen used ones go for around here and other places. Best purchase I've ever had.

What'd I say? Can't exactly call it THE best purchase I've ever made since I've got some awesome tube amps and a really cool collection of basses and pedals, but it's right up there with the very best of them for sure. It does one thing, it does it better than anything else I've tried, and I'm totally happy with it.

Yeah. You know me. I have the itch for something but I'm not sure what. P bass, fretless, new DI, etc. I know what I have (above IEM board and my Roscoe 5) is really all I need - more actually - but I haven't had the brown or white truck at my door for a long time.
