Hey SVTB

Just passing along what Dave Boonshoft who owns Aguilar told me. He didn't specifically mention what was changed to "optimize" but those were his exact words.

Just a REDDI.. all the time and most gigs.. In my home setup i run a REDDI into a a-design EM500 Gold mic pre> BAC500 compressor ( hit one or two LEDS at the most ) into an RME converter.. Depending on my bass I may or may not use the BAC500 compressor.

The db 680 was very good... And you really couldn't get anything like that back then unless you picked up a Neve module and its power supply in a rack.. or an API unit with its power supply... i knew a few guys that did that in the early 80s ( me) ahah
Ran an API pre into an SVT heads poweramp... SVT when run clean is GREAT!!!!!!!! and with a preamp like the API it was talked about by everyone in the local scene.. :thumbsup: Im sure it was in a good way :smug:

The thing that makes the REDDI shine is its Headroom..
I owned teh UA610, Evil Twin - got as payment instead of cash, U5, demeter, aguilar Tube DI.. Sold them all when my engineer friend told me to only brig the REDDI to gigs.. My engineer friend has a few Grammy credits ( think 4 or 5 now) so i take him seriously..

Small world, but I wouldn't want to paint it!

I wasn't around this area in the '70's but I showed up in 1985. Millbrook is actually about 45 minutes farther north. Millwood, is a a few minutes away - but I don't know of any studios or other gigs in Millwood. But hey - the '70's was s different time. Briarcliff is about 20 miles due north of NYC.

I'm with Jimmy. The DI on my SVT is phenomenal, no doubt about it... unless you listen to my REDDI first! REDDI is the best sounding DI I've ever played, bar none. (Caveat emptor: I've not played Monique yet) There is nothing in the world like this DI. Yes, it's a one-trick pony, but so was Secretariat, and with that as a trick, who needs another?

Well with the setup our band does and the way I've gigged for the last 3 years that's all I need. The Reddi gives me the best pure bass tone I've ever had. I can't wait to hear the difference when we record our next album using the Reddi. It's a joy to use IEM now with the tone it also gives to the ear buds lol.

You really notice it when you don't have it anymore...
i was on pre tor rehearsals in the beginning of the summer.. we were on small Rigs and all IEMs at an S.I.R. type rehearsal joint.. All top of the top pro gear..
Truck was delayed on getting in from one of our dates the day or so before, so my road REDDI was not in yet.. So i used the House;s Active DI for the IEMs and FOH feed..
Rehearsal started and I noticed it right away.. But the funny thing is the Singer person said to me. Im going to PARAPHRASE since i don't remember what he said 100% ,but it was similar to "What up with the bass < its missing something/".. Well I didn't have the REDDi set up and in line.

But what really freaked me out was that the singer actually had BASS in in his IEMS..:woot: I always thought he only had himself HA..:confused: But if the singer notices it, then anyone can!
It was back in the loop the next day

Our first day rehearsing and trying it out in the house and IEM for my bass and then the acoustic guitar player the difference was so big with the Reddi and without that we wouldn't allow the acoustic player to hear it through the IEM because we knew that we would immediately have to order her one lol. It will happen soon as we can afford it. Its just that big when using it as a DI and for IEM.

I've been using mine constantly since i picked it up recently. Killer DI. As has been said probably a hundred times already, its hard to go back to anything else when you hear how much of a difference it makes. Just big and fat tone that sits perfectly in the mix without being overbearing. Its funny but on my main gig I've always had a problem having a present and articulate tone in the FOH. With the REDDI the engineer doesn't even need to EQ me(running completely flat) for the tone to be perfect.

Well, I listened to a "board mix" recording of a church service from a couple weeks ago. Roscoe 5 with Bart's into my JDI to the Presonus board. Sounded really good. Nice full tone, defined, clean. Maybe too clean? I'm not sure.

I always say I only play at church and don't do any recording, but we record and post every service for people to access online.

Maybe I should give a REDDI a try. I've been looking at basses but this one sounds so darn good already.

I always say keep the bass and stay on it.. If you are really happy with a bass .. stay with it.. .That way i get to know the bass more. Its like a relationship....and you only get better on that one,

I've been told this before. Maybe now it's finally sinking in. I may get one more bass - a Roscoe fretless 5. I may or may not use it for gigs, but it was a bass that I had a while back and enjoyed playing for myself. A pair of Roscoe fretted/fretless Century Standard Plus 5's would be a good place to kill the GAS and "live" with the basses I have and just play them and learn all their possibilities.

I think there is still a REDDI up in the classifieds if you do a search. I'd grab it Steve. You can always flip it for what you paid if its not what you're looking for. Only way to know if its something you need is to try it live. IME it makes a big difference through IEM's.
