REDDI Tube DI Mega-thread-III

It won't do both FOH and your amp, at least not that I've heard. To me it downgrades the sound in the house if you split the signal. And while it can be used in certain power amps as a preamp, it's really not its intended use and doesn't work in every power amp. REDDI's one of those things that does only one thing but it does it better than anything else out there, or at least that's what I believe, so I don't worry so much about what it doesn't do. OTOH, A-Designs does make some preamps and they're pretty nice as well.

Long way to go to do what he could do by just coming out of the REDDI ;)

He uses the P-Split because the DB750/751 and REDDI do not always play nice. I had a gig where a very loud hum was coming from my rig for no apparent reason. I tried swapping out cables, changing power outlets, ground lifts, anything I could think of. I put a P-Split in the chain and it fixed the issue. It saved a gig for me.

Ah...I've heard a little about that with the Aggie heads. I've had it happen occasionally but an outboard ground lift has always taken care of it except for when my 69 SVT was broken.

Well, I got the replacement REDDI today, and it's a marked improvement. Very quiet, very clean. I'd actually like to hear a little more upper harmonic content, but it's really quite nice. I'm glad I gave it another go.

Glad to hear that! As for the upper harmonic content, I believe it's there, and it'll be evidenced to you the first time you use it with a band or record with it. Sorry you had to delay your REDDIness a few days...really hope you enjoy it, Fritz!

Wait until you here it in a track....
You will be very proud of your tone!
