Haha. OoopsThey're speaking about an SM7, not 57. You have a 7?

Kirk refuses to even get involved with tube rolling, but I had bought some old Russian 6N1P's off a dude I saw on some audio website that increased the gain by almost 4 db and really accented the 100-150 hz range. I loved it at first, then I started getting complaints from sound techs that it was too over the top, so I went back to the Sovtek it came with. I think the Sovtek is a tube that has a more universal appeal in the REDDI and gives it a flatter response. I also bought a Svetlana just to try it and to have a spare, and I didn't hear a difference from the Sovtek. In the meantime, I had upgraded the 6N1P tube in my REDDI with a NOS 6N1P that I bought from Decware Audio. I was also planning to try 6N2P which has higher gain than the 6N1P, but that never happened as I am already so happy with the sound of the unit. Has anyone tried tube-rolling in their REDDI's? Jimmy? Kirk?
I bought a couple of them as well.I bought a couple of them from thetubestore.ca and for the price you can't go wrong.
Just another facet of how right they got this thing.I have tried a few different tubes in the REDDI as well. Stock Russian tube is still the best IMO. I bought a couple of them from thetubestore.ca and for the price you can't go wrong.

I still have my original tube in my first REDDI . It must be 10 years old by now. And well traveled.
Note: I have no issue with DIYers reverse engineering something and building clones for their own use but I do have rather a large problem with someone bringing a product to market out of that process.
But, but...it seems like a pretty substantial proportion of EFX pedals are just done that way.
Not that there's anything right with that!![]()
Behringeritis.
I don't know if I'd trust anyone to build one in that thread. If they can't tell the difference between "inspired by the B-15" and "the exact B-15 circuit" in Peter's ad copy, especially when the REDDI doesn't even use a 6SL7, then I just don't think I'd trust them to build a clone. Maybe I'd trust the guy who pointed it outI'm not surprised. I mean pretty much every new audio product borrows from already existing circuits (how many ways can you implement a single ended triode gain stage?) but there is a difference between using well known building blocks to create something new and blatantly copying an entire implementation. Again, I stand to be corrected on the Zod thing but the connections to the REDDI circuit made in that thread are pretty compelling.

Maybe I'd trust the guy who pointed it outHow hard are transformers to reverse engineer? Doubt they could get the exact ones Cinemag builds for A-Designs, but I guess they could get close or go through someone else, eh? At any rate, I trust Peter more than I do guys on the internet that I don't know, and I know his build quality is like a tank, and that counts for a lot, too.
