REDDI Tube DI Mega Thread . Potential megathread that is.

I had a little fun this afternoon with a Roscoe "J" bass and my REDDI. I programmed some drums and keys in Sonar, and then I laid a bunch of bass tracks to round out the tune. All of the bass tracks were recorded direct through the REDDI.

I don't think I heard one player say that they liked another DI more then the REDDI.

The Reddi sends out basically a Mic level output...it is a Direct Box. But, if you find a Pre/EQ section(s) with a Mic level Input as well as an instrument level input, you could then do as I did and switch between full solid state path or Reddi > Solid state path and still have the Reddi DI feed out to the board. Twin Topology effect for your rig.

I recently ran a mic cord from the balanced out of the REDDI to the balanced input of my Markbass LM II. And ran an out from the LM II DI to the board; worked like a charm.

I really liked the Roscoe J Bass tone. You have given me gas darn it. The REDDI made it sound fatter.

I've been touring with my REDDI for about a year now. Every house tech that sees it and hears it immediately starts drooling uncontrollably.

The REDDI replaced my Retro-Spec Juice Box for Zeta upright duties. My bass player has never been happier with the tone.

I spent the day listening to mixes of tracks I made for the Good Noise Gospel Choir. We had the REDDI on one channel and my TC Electronics 450 bass amp on another. For the modern gospel (Kirk Franklin style) stuff, the TC was a bit "faster" sounding and maybe more "compact" if that makes sense. For all the more traditional stuff on my passive PJ and J style basses, the REDDI was best.

This is my chain.

Bass-reddi-FOH-stereo mix back to in ears.

We let our engineer send us a post mix.
I A/B'ed a JDI and the REDDI. my engineer said....leave the JDI at home. Haha its great. But the color the REDDI gives is GREAT!

So i bought a REDDI, it has become a desert island item for me. Never leave home without it when tracking. I had a rehearsal at my home studio and here is the setup. Allen Heath ZED Mixer into a simple MP3 recorder. So there is no processing other than the touch of reverb added to each instrument. The Roland TD20 Drums and Nord Stage EX are running stereo to the board. Vocal Mic is running to a Joe Meek Mic Pre and into the Mixer. The guitar is running to a POD XLT and into mixer in stereo. The p bass is running into the REDDI and into the Mixer. I used a Boss Compressor Pedal before the reddi to tame things a tad. Here are the results. Once again these are live recordings no dubs or punches.
