The Reddi expects an Instrument Level Input (passive or active), so Pre > Reddi would not work unless the proper low level output were available from the Pre, which doesn't make much sense to me??? ... (although, effects send Pre EQ might not be too hot. I don't know why one would to that though)

The Reddi sends out basically a Mic level output...it is a Direct Box. But, if you find a Pre/EQ section(s) with a Mic level Input as well as an instrument level input, you could then do as I did and switch between full solid state path or Reddi > Solid state path and still have the Reddi DI feed out to the board. Twin Topology effect for your rig.

Hi Bernie,

It could look like a combo of any of these?
I took these at BPL. Every combo you see here had a REDDI in the front and all going out to a Fender power amp and 6x10 cab.

Used my REDDI last night on a charity gig at House of Blues... Sound crew fell in love with it.. wished HOB would get them one... The road case is essential. I carried mine fore a while without and and the top cover is bent up on the corners... But it is built like a tank for that just incase moment.....

Ha, well in all fairness it was Kirk's original case that inspired me to order mine. It's the least I could do.

I can't tell you how far my heart dropped inside my body when I heard it fly off...

My brother worked the last NAMM and saw it displayed with a printout of the initial email I sent Peter. I smiled.

I did some work in LA shortly after and Peter was kind enough to let me use one for a few days. He had one waiting for me in a mini-flight case (like MingusBass's) with a note on it... "Here you go...Just in case."

I was cracking up right there in the hotel lobby.

Hi guys,
hope you can help me out.

I'm playing a EBMM Stingray 5 and I'm mainly using it for direct recording. I'm currently considering buying a REDDI as you can read the praises all over the internet.
At the moment I'm using my Axe-Fx as a DI to record the Bass directly into the DAW. I guess the REDDI would be a improvement.

Now to my concern. In another forum I read from a former REDDI owner that the REDDI is great but it didn't delivery for his music style. He was mainly recording heavy rock and metal. That's also exactly what kind of music I'm playing.

I also read that the REDDI is modelled after the characteristics of the Ampeg B-15N. A beautiful amp but does definitely not cut through heavy walls of guitars.

So I'm curious if I could still benefit from the REDDI and if it would still fit my style.
Does anyone of you have experience using the REDDI for metal?

I would very much appreciate your expertise....

I'm not a metal player. But you are correct regarding the amp that the REDDI resembles.

For metal, I would imagine something more like a Groove Tubes Brick...or even the Avalon U5 working well.
