I tried the Millenia.. It is a nice box.. Very nice.. But I own a REDDI... I also had the UA solo610 before the REDDI..but yup, i only have a REDDI for almost 4 years now. .It has become my secret Weapon .. hahha.. Not so secret now...
I get to work with some engineers in recording and live situations that have some hefty credits. some with Grammys.. and one said to me, dont come without your REDDI..
It ads heft to notes.. Its a 3D thing.. hard for me to describe but when you play it and hear it in your IEMS.. the proof is in the pudding as they say..

+ 1...just SMOKIN!
What would i run it into for a full featured pre section (gotta tame those bad rooms and such...)?

IEMS? Integrated Electrical Music Situation :p

Thanks

Update: Well...just answered my own question. Seems to me the Millennia is a bit of overkill (Twin Topology and such) with the Reddi, but any good scaled down EQ/pre section isn't much cheaper, so I'll just feed it on in and see what i get.:bassist:

I have a couple questions regarding the 500 series components and I thought about starting a new thread but the resident experts seem to reside here.

A couple things..

1. How do the 500 modules connect inside of the 500HR rack? Do they seat against an internal connector?

2. Are the XLR connections on the back of the 500HR used to run the first module into the second?

3. Are you guys still using a REDDI with your 500 system or are you running the 500's into the FOH/console?

I'm interested in these but a little unsure as to how they're best used.

Thanks!

Anyone have their REDDI attached to a pedal board? It would be nice to be able to have that and my pedals all-in-one for IEM/Direct situations.

I only use IEM's for my road gig as well as a butt kicker platform for added whomp. I've added the REDDI to my pedalboard 3 months ago and it's worked great! I run the bass guitars through the REDDI and the EUB through a Radial JDI.

I don't miss having an amp at all.

Some nice pron in this thread! Always wanted a REDDI but am happy w/ my U5. I do have a Pacifica in my studio and I use it all the time for bass and it is killer. Very punchy . . . ADesigns got me hooked!

AND just a note on their customer support - when I first got my Pacifica there was a VERY odd issue w/ it (which I'm still not convinced the box was to blame - I had just gotten a few new items that worked in conjunction) anyway Peter all but flew to NY to fix the problem personally - patient on the phone and picked up shipping costs and replaced the unit . . . QUICKLY. WAY above and beyond I hoped he would do, let alone what I expected!

1. Hi. The 500 modules slide into the 500HR rack.. Inside the rack there is a Military style Multi Pin Slotted connector that mates with the connector on the rear of the Module.
Almost all pro level mixing consoles and military as well as aerospace modules connect the same way. Then the Module has two screws on the faceplate that hold the unit in place.

2. The answer to that is YES.

3. I use my Genz Benz gig for stage ... But if i am on IEM only i may use the REDDI and 500 to send to house... But for me i usually Use teh 500 pre at my home recording setup. And the REDDI 100% of the time ..What i want to get is the Electrodyn EQ to use with the EM500 Gold pre in the 500HR rack being fed by the REDDI... whewwww...

Thanks, Kirk! Just the info I was looking for.

I'm sure the tone would be great with the REDDI feeding a 500 setup. Not "too much of a good thing" with that setup.

Now I just need to figure out how to make all of that into a somewhat portable package...

Kirk, just a little follow up on this.

1. How similar do you find the direct tone to be between the REDDI and EM500 Gold? I'm assuming they're different enough as you would like to run the REDDI before the Gold.

2. I haven't heard about the Electrodyne EQ until you mentioned it. I looked into it some and it's obviously a great piece of equipment.

Someone might as well go with two 500HR's and do the REDDI into a EM500 Gold into a Electrodyne EQ into a BAC500 ;) :D.

Seems as if that Reddi is hot enough that the Gold would be optional, just for additional color, as opposed to being used as a gain stage proper...
(in a bass context anyway).
