Well, I ordered it from work(Sweetwater) through a custom case maker we work with called LM Cases. I had to send them the measurements on the REDDI and then I signed off on their design and told them to make it GREEN!:bassist: It would not be hard for another customer to get one made though. It took a month to get in. :bassist:

Well, my Reddi arrives today and I'll be giving it a go with a slightly different goal then for most, it seems.

I'm really hoping to feed it thru my Millennia Origin's mic input (or line in if it's too hot) to see how effective it is as a color box for the rig, and also send it out thru the pre's line out (Direct, pre EQ) for the DI feed without it being altered much....we'll see. The Millennia can be quite neutral...different intent entirely from the Reddi's sonic goal (not that you can't introduce tubes and such with the Twin Topology) and it has a great EQ section. Should be fun.

I hope Peter doesn't yell at me ... :p

Update #1: This unit is FANTASTIC! As mentioned above, I am running it thru the mic input of my STT-1, out to my Crest CA-9 and into an Acme B2 and it sounds GREAT. Bass used: Alleva Coppolo LG5. Compared to the Instr. input and into the tube topology of the Millennia, it is not quite as extended, but a touch fatter, and as such, a touch more refined, less raw. Clean tone for days (had it set at 12 o'clock).

Keep in mind that I'm comparing it to a $3k+ pre, and not running it on it's own yet. WOW! ... I have not even tried it straight thru, using IEM or driving the Crest Direct.

Really nice unit... lots more to do here and more updates to follow, but anyone considering it as a Tube DI contender...just buy one. It really is that good.

Update #2: The Reddi, thru the solid state path of the Millennia and out to the rig is really starting to distance itself from the Millennia's tube path (without the Reddi).
The Reddi is truly a friggin MAGIC BOX, especially with that alder/RW AC build.

I'm honestly starting to entertain the idea of retooling and building a front end with EQ around the Reddi.
This thing gets into your DNA and SPEAKS!

We'll see.

Update #4: Post-Honeymoon: I want them both!

The Millennia tube path is popier, more dynamic.

The Reddi - fatter, a bit fuller but less dynamic, a bit of compression to achieve that PHAAATT.

Both are GREAT, and building a Twin Topology type rig using the Reddi and a good (A-Designs) SS EQ section with the right inputs/outputs would be very cool. Beautiful sounding thing.

But then again, using it AND the Millennia ...

What strikes me as fantastic about the Millennia, though I have never tried one, is its incredible flexibility in the studio. The REDDI is nearly the opposite of that, so I can see having a use for both.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the Millennia can take speaker level signals for DI purposes, and can also serve as a reamping device. Just great, notwithstanding all of the other features it has.

The only thing I find odd about it is its footprint, but the REDDI has it beat there.

It could look like a combo of any of these?
I took these at BPL. Every combo you see here had a REDDI in the front and all going out to a Fender power amp and 6x10 cab.

That's the TD-1 that you are thinking of. I'm using the STT-1, and it is a fantastic and flexible pre, with more EQ bands, but without the re-amp function.

The goal here though, was to see how effective the Reddi DI was as a rig (pre)tube stage and then compare it to the STT-1 tube path option.

The Reddi succeeds in this just as successfully as the tube path in the STT-1, and depending on what you are after, you will find one or the other preferable. Feed it out thru the back, and you still have the smokin DI feed too.

While I have not heard any of the other A-Designs stuff, I would imagine that taking this approach with an A-designs Pre and EQ module would be quite an effective pre-amp "Twin 'Topology" solution.

I would love to gone through that test...

So Peter (or anyone for that matter)

Instead of REDDI -> Preamp

Using the Preamp -> REDDI

Or should the REDDI always be in front?

Great thread...I would like to see other combination's of using the REDDI.

I really want to design the a board (or rack) for a small run of European shows that I will be doing that's going to be amp less (just IEM).
