So I got my new set of TI JF365's for my RB5 yesterday. I did e-mail Rick Turner Guitars inquiring about the strings that were on the bass when I bought it and they replied and confirmed that they are D'Addarios as you all had said. They said they typically use TI's but when they run out at the factory, they'll use D'Addario.
So anyways, I went to change the strings and I had a heck of a time getting the D'Addario low B and E strings out of the ferrules. The silks on the end of the strings were really jammed in there and for a moment, I wasn't sure how I was going to get them out. They eventually did come out after considerably strong, but careful persuasion. The TI's slid through the ferrules and went on the bass really easy. However, now I'm posed with another problem. The nut on the bass is not slotted big enough for the .136 B string of the TI set (the D'Addario B is a .132). The string nestles in the slot somewhat, but is clearly sitting on slot and is not all of the way in. The rest of the strings sit comfortably in their slots as they are smaller gauges than the rest of the D'Addario set that was on there. I found it a little odd that the TI set has a larger B, but the rest are smaller than the D'Addarios. While the TI's definitely feel much more comfortable to me because of the lower tension, the acton on the bass is a bit too high (especially around the 10th fret and higher). I'm taking the bass this afternoon to my long-time guitar set up guy to have him take a look at it and work his magic to get everything straightened out.

. I have been playing this wonderful instrument for 12 years. Using all sorts of strings, but using LaBella nylon white gold strings for the last 4 years. I am looking for something else though....
