One of mine did, the other one did not... so I made one. Then I improved on it, and further fueled by this OCD twitch to 'fix things', I made a set of matching wood coverplates. It could just be a coincidence. I've just never seen another maple one, other than the ones I made.

Ha! That was Merv-dawg's bass! I thought it looked familiar! Yes, I know Mark well. We had a guitarist in common... who was like a brother to me, died 7 years ago Monday. Mervis snd me both had played bass with Tony Collins of Bristol, Tennessee.

RIP, Tony.

Good morning, Fellow Followers of the Sun Lion. Still hard to believe Rick is gone. He would have been 79 last month. (July 30th)

Hopefully you have been able to get out and play some music this year. I did for a while, was having a pretty good season actually, with our newgrass/jamband thing, but the battle with this osteoarthritis rages on. I finally threw in the towel last month and gave my notice to the guys. They got me replaced, and I'm done, at least until the medical wonders can fix up my spine so I can feel the fingers again. They did it once... let's go for two. More Titanium upgrades. Then maybe I'll be back.

Anyway, heads-up... I may be listing a couple Turners in the Classifieds. I haven't decided yet which. I know the Model One is staying; it's light, and small. I may let one of the Electroline 5's go. Possibly one of the Renaissance 5's too. If anyone gets twitchy, hit my button.

I've sold a bunch of guitars and basses lately in this restructuring... it hasn't been fun, but I'm getting used to the idea of relocating them. One of my vintage Alembics now has a nice cushy studio gig with a Nashville based bassist who plays with a well-known pop-country act. Got a text last night telling me how tickled they are with it. I feel good when they go to good homes. By contrast, l had a guy (and his two pals) attempt to rob me over an Epiphone Les Paul guitar in a broad daylight Craigslist meetup... proof that some people are plain nuts. I still have the Epi ElPee, they're probably scheming on someone else.

I wouldn't be surprised if it were. Cocobolo is a true Dalbergia. (retusa) It appears in so many variations, that's hard to define as that stuff, unless you were with the guy that signed the papers. It's marginally easier to get than several other rosewoods from Central America anyway, but it probably takes an expert to know one from another. If you ever want to troll up a fistfight on a Martin guitar forum, post something about Cocobolo vs. Brazilian Rosewood. And logout fast. :ninja::whistle:

(almost all my guitars, indeed all my Martins are mahogany sides and back... so ol' Ed ain't got a dawg in that fight...)

It's a Yamamoto Talus VS-12, made in 2016. I bought it directly from Tony (Tsuneyuki) after having bought my Yamamoto MS-12 used at Schoenberg Guitars (Tiburon, Ca.) in March 2015. While still in the Bay area I called Tony, as he lived around there at the time (Dublin, Ca.; he retired and moved back to Japan in 2019), and he invited us over for a visit where I got to play a whole bunch of his guitars and talk shop, and see his workshop and build methods.

They are insanely obnoxious. The pages bounce up and down making it difficult to click on the desired thread/post/link, and in some instances even block content.

Quoted, just so I can like it. All the more obnoxious how they managed to place them so that anything you click on takes you to an ad.
