replacement PUs for late 90s MIM Jazz

I've got a late 90s Fretless MIM Jazz bass. I'd hate to route it out to get replacement pickups, but the bridge slot is a bit undersized. Does anyone know of a drop in replacement for this bass? Is it better to just route it out?

Can I just drop 2 neck pickups in it?

Any help is appreciated.

Those were the ones that used the same size PUPs for both positions. It was a way to shave costs by only having one stock number, and the assembly people didn't have to figure out which went where.

You COULD use two neck PUPs, and if you got one special ordered with RWRP you'd get the hum cancelling that a Jazz should have when both PUPs are at the same level. But, it's an MIM Jazz that's not all that precious in the bigger scheme of things. I'd just route it out for a regular Fender bridge-sized PUP. That way you have a LOT of options for what to put in there.
