Repurposing a broken Rumble 200

That's good. When you can, though, I strongly suggest replacing that inline jack socket with a panel mounted socket. For some reason those in line ones are, as AH says, really flaky, and, even excluding the possibility of a short circuit damaging the amp, my experience is the damn things let you down at the most embarrassing possible moment. The easiest thing is probably to get a socket like this that fits from the outside:-

And then you can just take out the rubber grommet and enlarge the hole until it fits, solder the wires on the back, couple of screws and there you go.
