Return of Sunn?

Pre Sales started today. Picked me up a Beta Bass head to check out!
I'm seriously considering one. Looks like they doubled the wattage of the amps and cabs. Any word on when they're shipping?

Doesn't look like there's a weight listed for the cabs. Hmmm

Will the Beta Bass Series come with the foot switch pedal to run both channels?
Yes, but there's an additional $76 charge.

Best shot I could find of the bass rig:

Anyone here get any current update on the first round of preorders? Been on the fence on preordering a Beta Bass. I've always wanted one for something fun to play with at home.

I was emailing a bit back and forth with some questions regarding the Beta Bass with Sunn (they were very quick and informative with their responses btw). The first initial preorder batch is sold out with any orders after having delivery etas in late March/early April. From the internal changes I was informed that it is mostly surface mount components with an integrated power supply and switching power supply. As opposed to the original internals being through-hole components, discreet transistors and linear power supply.

And this isn't me saying any of these changes are bad or not necessarily true to the original, just worth noting. But I'd love to see some gut shots of the new Betas and their new approach to the design.

And yet they kept the size of the heads the same as original by the looks of it, they could easily have made them small like a modern amp even with TH components.
My Beta stompbox is 1590BB size with the full preamp in it made with TH components.
The only transistors in a Beta is for channel switching, the rest is IC's like OpAmps.

I posted on their initial launch that they could build an Orange Terror Bass sized Beta Bass head and sell them by the truckload.

Last I heard they are shipping the end of this month. Can't wait for mine!
