Yup, I was using it (SPL line precursors to the Beta line) as the heart of a bi-amped prog rock bass setup. It was very clean. No; it's super-clean without drive
I still find it kind of strange that prior to the amps and cabinets coming out why didn't they do demo videos of the amps & cabinets? You'd think that would be a smart promotional idea to get get people to hear what the amps & cabinets sound like.
Update: Guess my FB rant got someone's attention. Per their response, Beta Leads started shipping on Monday and Beta Bass will start shipping next week. We shall see. Picked up an AG700 to cover myself in case the latest response is BS.

Having said that, if this Sunn thing doesn't come to fruition, you kids aren't missing much. Maybe the tube heads, maybe. They were good back n da day but they weren't the end all to amps.
My opinions, my thoughts.

Apparently Beta Basses are shipping right after the Leads. From their socials it seems that some customers have received their Beta Leads. This was from one or two customer video reposts. No news on the Beta Bass. Little bit of a bummer considering the original March eta's lol
They're planning on releasing more modern stuff. Just wanted to get some classics out first I guess. For now it's just the Betas. No word on the 200S yet.The problem as I see it (and I own a 200S) is, while I dig the Sunn amp and sound. I don’t want to haul a full size tube head around anymore. And I won’t. And I don’t know many of “my” peers who will or do, either. Please for gods sake, ALSO just..Put the Preamp and an 800W DClass amp, and make a mini version of a 200S. Make the preamp tube glow visible. Perhaps, in something like the beta case height about 12-15” wide and under 10lbs. Then I’ll give it a try. I also own a 200S 215 cab that I’ll never gig again. Tho I might be persuaded to bring out my 412 Sunn cab which weighs half as much as the 200s cab. But in all likelihood, i’ll probably never gig any of them again. Need a cab anyone? Then downsize the cabs, PLEASE SMALL LIGHT TOO. sure keep the giants. But..To fit in modern vehicles, Smaller and lighter high end 115’s, 215’s 212’s & 112’s, 410’s and redesigned audio specs to compete with the likes of Mesa, Bergantino, Bareface etc. then I’m a potential customer. Until then I’m out. To me, as it is now, it’s just an homage to a simpler time. And for that, I’ve got an original I can revisit; in storage…….. which pretty much speaks for itself. lol
For that matter why buy a brand new one when you can own one Conrad had a hand in……..

Yeah, remember what happen to the Acoustic 360/361 relaunch? The problem as I see it (and I own a 200S) is, while I dig the Sunn amp and sound. I'm pretty sure it's aimed at people who want Betas lolPerhaps this run is aimed at current Beta model users. I noticed some like to have multiple heads stacked, possibly as backups?
Yet, I see posts here by curmudgeons that can’t handle dealing with more than a “tone” control, and bellyache about four bands of EQ.I had a Sunn 2000S back in that day that everyone drools over nowadays and it didn't impress me very much, not much tone shaping ability.
They’re already well stocked with 70’s Model T’s.Here comes the Sunn!

Mitsubishi literally did this but worse with their Eclipse. That's like saying, "I want GM to resurrect Pontiac and come out with a new Trans Am, but redesign the engine specs to compete with Hyundai, Mazda, Tesla, etc. then I'm a potential customer. Until then I'm out."
Just completely misses the point.
