Here's a thought. If the Mods are/were done AFTER the neck cracked would folks be so upset?

Sure it looks like crap now, but once a neck-thru gets a neck-break like the one pictured on the ad, it's pretty much -despite the seller's asking price- valueless anyway, so why not use it as a test bed for reshaping, routing, painting, etc?

I'm not convinced that it was originally an MC 800, but that seems less the issue than the mods done.

That's a good point. Although, if that's the case, it should be honestly advertised as a mod platform.

I believe it is an MC824.

Now that seems more likely. Still not 100% but much more likely Two octave neck, body contour, etc.

No, it's a local CL ad. He always has a bunch of stuff for sale. He has put more fretless basses on the market...I think he can paint and do electronics, but not fret work.
The ad says it was "upgraded with jazz bass pickups", then has a picture of what it looked like originally (actual pic below). I wanted to reply to the ad and say - I'll take it if you make it look like it did originally.
Hey, he only wants $325 for it; and it has the original case.
