The new single sounds like the same ol'sticky Californication/By The Way/Stadium Arcadium/I'm In You/The Get Away tired pop-rock stuff they've been churning out for two decades. I miss them funky and I miss them rocking….

Really the only member of the band I even appreciate musically (or as a person) anymore is Chad Smith.

Some harsh reviews in here! I do wish I had 1/10 of their success. As for Anthony's voice, So many others doctor theirs up so at least there's that. He's always in key as far as I can tell. Flea's Jazz sounds great and the drums are tight.

However, I also am not being swept away by it like I was back in the day by bands like Aerosmith, Rush, Zeppelin, Floyd, Purple, Skynrd etc…

I don't know if it's because I'm so much older now or what but I haven't heard too many albums that make me listen to them over and over again like back then.

Oh well, I am glad for them because they are still living my dream. I would love to be Flea and of course I would more love to be JPJ or Geddy…..

I'm a fan of the Peppers (specifically the earlier stuff) but I have found most of their music post-BSSM really uninteresting and this song does not change that thought.

The chord progressions were particularly bland and the energy level was very low, and high energy playing has always been a selling point of their music IMO.

I also agree about the singing being the most unlikeable part of their songs.

Not so impressed by this song. A bit boring I think. Sounds like the same old commercial RHCP. Wish they go back to there funky roots more. I think it's a strange choice for a first song after all these years. Hope the rest of the album is much better.

Seems they are copying themselves. This song could well be part of Stadium Arcadium. Which is perfectly fine with me as I love Stadium Arcadium. Even though it might be a bit boring and unsuprising, it still shines as bright as the sun in the universe of musical darkness that is (most of) today's pop music. Jmho.

I don't love everything they do but the more time I spend with their catalogue the more I appreciate them and what they have done for music.

I wonder what strings Flea uses on his famous Jazz. The fresh red silk ends could mean LaBella 760 FL or Thomastik Jazz Flats or even RotoSound Rounds. Any ideas?
