I wonder what strings Flea uses on his famous Jazz. The fresh red silk ends could mean LaBella 760 FL or Thomastik Jazz Flats or even RotoSound Rounds. Any ideas?

I guess his signature GHS Boomer set? They also have red silk ends. He doesn't seem like a flatwound guy.

If that's true then I have more respect for Rubin. They've done a lot of great work in the past 30 years.

I agree, he is a great producer. But sometimes it's good to work with a differently creative set of ears. RR may be too close to them (and the material) at this stage to make the best decisions. Just a speculation.

Something has also always bothered me about the drummer too. I loved Under the Bridge when it came out and I was in 8th grade. I celebrated the entire back catalog.

I'm certainly being creative in my expression of my feelings. But, honestly, the first couple of minutes are almost unbearable. The vocals are beyond weird all the way through. The music isn't horrible when the drums and bass kick in, I suppose. But nothing to get all excited about.

I'm not exaggerating one bit about America's Got Talent. If RHCP had never been famous, and showed up with that song on that show, the buzzers would go off before the drums start. The intro is painful for me.

That's not a song that will blast in our memories, but in current mass sound it's good to get it.

Vox sound... like some rando tried to do a RHCP impression, couldn't really sing on key (it is RHCP, so that's on point) and tried to fix the issue with obnoxious application of autotune. Overall this just felt boring and predictable to me.

I miss when RHCP played funk. This isn't flat out bad, just not my cup of anything.

The Chili Peppers have achieved a point in their career in which no matter what they release, there will always be enough of a core audience slurping it up saying it's "AMAZING" even when it's puke. The band has become a machine which rides on its past success.

U2 arrived here when they squatted out Pop.

I agree. I am continually disappointed in the RHCP'S lack of innovation. All their albums since Californication seem lazy to me. I think that musically they're capable of a lot more than what they're putting out, but I guess I'm wrong about that.

One thing they still give me however is inspiration for staying in shape, and rocking out till I literally, physically can't anymore. These guys are all acing it.

Will always be a fan, despite my dislike for their newer style.
