I just noticed that even the four string half has a different bridge than the 4003AC. I know nothing about Ricks though so I don't know if these bridges are significant at all.

I have a huge Rick fetish, and a doubleneck fetish too. This is impressive!

But - nah. The ergonomics are all wrong.

One day I’ll build a proper doubleneck with headless hardware that isn’t an unwieldy boat anchor.

My initial thought was also why a 4 and a 5, but I’m sure one is tuned standard and the other is a couple of steps lower. Sure, lots of people use extended range basses or guitars instead, but it’s for the stage, and maybe some of the chord shapes he plays don’t lend themselves to a particular tuning.

Speaking of redundant and Spinal Tap, my Dad and I watched it recently, he could not stop laughing after seeing the headstocks on Derek Smalls’ BC Rich, as they both had 4 tuning machines. He was cracking up so much that I didn’t have the heart to tell him there were four more tuning pegs near the bridge.

Tye upper horn is literally under his beard! While I think it's neat to look at, it seems like a ridiculous thing to have around your neck. Need a 5 string? Have your tech hand you a perfectly tuned one for the next song. Wearing two basses? No thanks.

Relax! They are fun and redunkulous, that's most of the point. And if you see him actually playing it, the beard isn't a factor, either.

Sleep played Denver last night. I couldn't make it (daddy-duty), but a few friends said it was great! Apparently they are scaling back though- Al only had 3 SVT rigs and Pike had two Soldano stacks.

When it comes to doublenecks, I agree w/ @Altitude- the Ric 4080 is my fave (or Takeshi from Boris's clone).
