Rickenbacker

I bought one from Musicians Friend. I had been playing 5 string for a while and was expecting to be blown away. My previous exp with Rics is that they are amazing! I was completely dissappointed. The 4003/5 is the most expesive piece of crap I've ever shelled the money out for. It was built like a tank but the string spacing it HORRIBLE!..and the B string was the absolute worst B string I've ever heard. My squier 5 string played a hell of alot better! The string spacing on the 4003/5 is So tight...I don't even think a pick player would like it. Thank god Ric discontinued the model in favor of a more modern 5 string (cheyenne 5 string). Now...I'm interested in Ric 5ers again after seeing the new ones. They've widen the neck alot. Can't wait to get my hands on one. I do suggest staying away from the 4003/5 unless you're looking to be disappointed! What the hell was Rickenbacker thinking?!

Hey Brian, you don't happen to have any sound clips of your Bart-equipped Rickenbacker, do you? I'd absoutely love to hear it! I have a 4003JG and am rather curious as to exactly what these pickups do to the tone, especially that string-mute mounted one (dunno if yo have that...), although I'll probably eventually change the bridge so I can use those Dean Markley SR2000 strings I so love.

I would simply like to point out that I am amazed.

This post was made around the last time I was here.. that must have been almost a year ago...

but I am back.. and still lusting after Ric basses, after some time off to get school back in order.

Anyway, just thought I'd stop by ;)

Well, I'd never looked in ths one before, as the title is hardly "inspiring" - but I was just amazed when it came to the top with so many views. I've never liked Rickenbackers and have never seen that many people play them - so it just surprised me that this was such a "hot topic".
