Rickenbacker

I am on the hunt for a 4004 cheyenne 1...the early one with the pickup close to the neck, in the walnut finish. I am refin'ing one of my 4001's because it came to me stripped. It will have the union-jack on the front and on the headstock. I am going to call it "Union-Jack-Glo"...hats off to you all in the UK....

Hmm, if I were to get a Ric 4003 in Jetglo, what's the street price for one of those?

MF doesn't give prices for them.

Are they more expensive than they should be?

Just curious.

Music 123 sells em about 985$
Ricpage 995$
PickoftheRicks about 1000$ if i remember correctly
And i believe American Musical 990$ last i checked
Elderly sells them about 1040$

As you can see..its quite easy in the States to get one for about 1000$ new.

Nice looking bass. I do like the look of them, but...

Seems to me that back in "the day" Ricks were WAY ahead of their time, advanced construction, great access to all frets, etc. Made some really adventurous models for a while, but ultimately became stuck producing basically the same bass for a very long time now. Some few changes along the way, attempts at more modern models that really to me just lost what made the old Rics great, rather than building on it.

I'd love to see a 24 fret Ric. An active Ric. A fretless Ric without dots on the 'board - dots look real silly on a fretless. Not a fan of dots in general, I'd have bought a five and/or an 8 if they had the sharkfin inlays, or even no inlays. When they have something as cool as the Lemmy bass - make more than 50 of them!!! Seems like they only want to appeal to people who are looking for a new "vintage" bass. This could, and should, be done without discontinuing the 4003.
