Rickenbacker

Hey Everyone,

I just finished 3 new songs that were written on bass.
The first one
http://www.kineto.net/theorem.htm

The other 2 are at
http://www.kineto.net under the audio page.
These are the first mixes I've done
that I can honestly say I'm proud of.

Are influences include: Rush, Primus, Tool and Skeleton Key
I used a Rickenbacker 5 string Bass to record Theorem and a
Fender Jazz for Human Upgrade and Subject To Change
I modified the 5 string ric to allow wider string spacing
by cutting new slots in the bridge and filling in the old ones.

We also have a band forum for some feedback at
http://instantboard.com/users/Kineto/index.php

Thanks for listening guys. :bassist:
Sounds good bro!!! I don't get to hear too many 5 string Ric basses. I have one for you as well go to http://www.cdbaby.com and search for 'Divine In Sight'...these dudes rock and he is using a RIC 5'er....

As always..nice bass Thornton :D

I hope my fretless jetglo Ric that was originally ordered in March wont be too much longer :(
I cant help but think about it all the time. :crying:

I hope all is going well over at the Ric factory and they are on schedule for my new Ric.

Rickenbacker are about to shut down for their annual two week vacation.

I wouldn't expect your fretless to arrive David, until October or November. You might get lucky and receive your bass sooner should a order ahead of yours get cancelled. I'm sure you've got your fingers crossed, but I wouldn't count on it.

Cheers,
TD

Ahh I figured it was Burgandyglo. What a great finish... I guess I'll have to find an old 4001 to get that color then!

You can find a 2002 4003 in this colour as well.
I almost bought one a few years back..but i was a little late comming up with the moolah and pulling the trigger and someone snatched it up literallya couple days before i was ready.

The 2002 version of Burgundyglo is alot different than mine. My bass is very dark burgundy, almost eggplant. It's very difficult to get a good photo of it because it tends to look black or Jetglo.

I photographed the bass laying on my pool table to see if the tables cloth would help bring out some of the burgundy in the bass. I think it helped.

She was born in early April 73, and is one of the very last 4001's made with vintage features.

Cheers,
TD

PS - I hope you don't have to wait to long for your fretless David. Where did you order it, L&M?

It was pre-ordered from the Ricpage in March. I finally pulled the trigger and put money down 37 days ago.(hence my sig)
Ive ordered from Mike Parks from the Ricpage many times..and always liked his service and attiude and patience with me. Thats why i bought my 2nd Ric from him, and buy any and all parts/accessories from him.

I am on the lookout for another Ric too..a beater that i can modify that isnt too expensive.

Last i heard they were expecting late summer...but yeah i was thinkin realistically more towards fall like Sept.

It'll be worth the wait.

I've been getting some serious GAS pains for a Jetglo 4003 of late. A timeless classic. (And my Midnight Blue 4003 needs some company.)

Yeah my fireglo was lonley lol

Ive tried a ton of basses and Ric's just work for me on all fronts...so it was only natural to get another Ric..but i wanted something a bit different too..so i ordered the fretless.
It should be awsome and well worth the wait, im sure.
I just dunno how some of those people who get customs done wait so long..its drving me bonkers lol
Gard is keeping an eye out for me for another Ric too, so we shall see what happens there.

How's the B string on Ric 5ers?

The one I owned very briefly two years ago was CCCRRRAAAPPP! It killed me to realize that I spent $1,100.00 on a 5 string that was virtually unplayable (string spacing way too narrow and B string what was less than 1/2 the volume of the other strings). That being said....I have heard of people liking the B string on the 4003S/5. Maybe I got a lemon....but how many lemons does Ric produce?? I guess there has to be some out there. I don't want to say all of the 4003S/5s are crap but mine surely was. I was truly disappointed because I had owned a modded 4003 4 string that was hands down the best 4 string I've ever played or heard.

I think I am the one who bought it just before you B'Aces
High !!!! I love my 2002 Rick in burgundy colour. To deal with Mike Parkls is always a real pleasure. I recently bought a 1993 Cheyenne version 1 ( not from Ricpage ) and it is a totally different Bass !!!!! Very light, tone is very different, but with the Ric touch for sure !!!!
