Rig Rundown: Tim Commerford

Yes, really sweet. I've got a white SLO and I'd love to convert the hardware to black, kind of like the White Stealth models.

I really wish EBMM would sell the black hardware of you wanted it.
I still think it's dumb that you have to surrender whatever part you're replacing to them, so why does it matter that it was chrome and you now want it in black?

I have a pearl white Bongo 5 HH and a black/maple SR4 both with stealth hardware, they look awesome!
I have a full set of black replacement hardware for my natural/maple Lull M5V that I keep meaning to put on. Maybe I'll get on that!

Let's discuss how Tim has used paired wah's attached with wood planks for YEARS:

But is now completely content with the new CBM105Q mini bass wah.

Is the sweep the same? According to the video, it's got a different sweep than the full-size one - and perhaps has enough range for two paired wahs. INTERESTING.

Or maybe it's a conspiracy!

I always assumed he had a wah going to separate amps but I'm not positive about that.

Don't forget that this isn't his main rig. It's slightly different than what we've normally seen him use. Two amps vs. three.

I really wish EBMM allowed any sort of customization besides ordering a bass in brown, white, black, or dark black.

You can get chrome or black hardware, two or three band preamps, different nut width options...

You can't get chrome or black hardware - you can buy a stealth bass, but then you have no choice in colour (or any other feature). You cannot customize your preamp or your nut width. Trust me, you can only choose the colour of the bass, the rest is all locked in by EBMM.

Uh, my SR4 and Bongo 5 say otherwise...as does Tim's bass with the stealth hardware.

Which reminds me, add roasted necks and BEAD nuts to the list.

Try and order a MM with stealth hardware and a roasted neck. I dare you. There's a difference between being a signed artist that they'll make a special bass for, releasing special editions, and what's available to the general public.

I'll tell you what: get me a quote for a 4 string HH Sterling painted in Mystric Dream with ebony fretboard, roasted maple neck and Stealth hardware. I'll pay you 20% commission on it.

Kind sir, I think you're completely missing what I said. I never said you could order whatever you want. I just said that there were some options on what you could order because you said you can only order from a couple of colors. Which just isn't true.

I don't believe you can get a Stingray or Sterling with an ebony board unless it's a Stealth.
I don't believe you can get a bass (any of them) in Mystic Dream as they were never offered. Pretty sure that's a JP model color only.

You also said that you can't customize the preamp or nut width.
In Stingray land, you can get a standard Ray w/ a standard 1 5/8" nut width. OR...you can get it with a SLO neck which is 1 1/2".
You can also choose between a 2 band preamp or a 3 band preamp.

If you don't believe me, fine. I OWN two basses that go against what you're saying that I've shown everyone in this thread.

For me questioning "things" is a broad subject. Like deciphering Tim's tone into its recipe of gear. The combination is real, I hear it, but him saying that he put a wah in a box and converted it to a distortion is something I question based on what I hear.

I'm not saying he's lying, I simply cannot relate the two as of yet, without being creative. I could draw conclusions, guesses and discuss them here.

Regardless of the actions of ISIS, 9/11 etc (clearly those things happened); What is behind that? Who is behind that? I don't know, but more than two possibilities exist but only one fact. Discussing them with like minded individuals in order to make sense of it all is what I prefer, as opposed to people who immediately say "not possible" (because it leads to fighting & negative judgemental reactions which isn't the point of questioning). Truthful, fact or fiction the reason I identify with it is not to be right or wrong, rather to understand if the decisions by people in power (and the varying degrees of what that means) have our best interest in hand. Questioning the system of delivering that message is fundamental in understanding if they care about my son & daughter.

Doesn't mean I'm out buying a bed with a gun holster in it, or preparing for the end of the world or some attack, and it certainly doesn't mean someone has the right to judge me (or anyone) because I (we) question it. In the case of Timmy C, it has driven him to make awesome music, and be able to start discussions like these.

He got into a fight with his drummer couple days ago. Intense dude.

I know from personal experience that each member of RATM excluding Zach were pretty giant jerks. This wouldn't be the first time Tim has fought a band member. There is a reason RATM split up...Honestly though this one kinda seems like it's a publicity stunt more than anything.

For background I grew up running in the same circles as Zach and Tim..mainly hardcore/punk circles. I love Zach to death. I've been listening to his music since I was 11 with bands like Hardstance,Yuckmouth, Inside Out, RATM, and One Day as a Lion. Super humble and super talented dude. The rest of those dudes are lacking that whole humble part...

I was thinking the same thing. Two jacked up athletic types, one charges the other and the one getting tackled keeps trying to play the drums and doesn't fight back? When does that happen?

So these guys are in their 50's? Classy.

Since this thread is derailed anyway I would just like to add this.

I live in Australia I'm not effected by American media, most conspiracy people don't do science or read academic peer reviewed work and get their information from blogs that can be made by anyone. Conspiracies are fun and make more sense but that's because there easy to come up with anyone can make connections that aren't there if they're looking for them.

On Tim's gear though, I'm surprised at how many amps he uses having three behind me that all sound different would annoy me haha

I'm glad you chimed in, personally I think you're kidding yourself if you think Australia isn't affected by American media. There's been more coverage of Trump and Hillary than I've ever seen of our own elections.

As far confirmation bias and conspiracies go, there is a lot of poorly argued, highly assumed, even paranoid crap on the Internet, no doubt. The shape of the earth topic is one, perhaps the only one, that you can easily make observations and conduct your own experiments from which to draw your conclusions. To suggest that people merely regurgitate what they're being told is the kettle being called black by the pot. Most people that believe in the moon landing cannot fathom the mathematic or logistic hurdles involved, yet swear it happened because they saw it on television.
