RIP Chris Cornell - Soundgarden/Audioslave

This is pretty surreal for me on a number of levels. They were one of "my" bands as a highschooler getting into music. They also became one of "my" bands in the past couple of years, as they've been longtime artists of ours. So I was stoked to watch last night's show from stage right (Kim's tech area). The show was great.

So sad to hear about such a great talent pushed to the point where suicide is an option. One can only hope that where ever he is now his pain has been released and he can be happy.

And I sincerely hope the media gives the family and friends some space. The man is gone, we don't need all the finer details made public.

This one also hits close to home.

Soundgarden was one of those bands that defined my high school years and the days when I was first learning to play music in the garage bands of my youth. I probably spent more time with the records from bands like Soundgarden (and the like) than I did with my own family during those years.

Although I didn't know him, everything I read about him made him seem like a genuine human being who cared about his friends and the music community he grew up in. This is a really, really big loss.

Where did suicide get mentioned? I haven't seen it in any articles.

That has to be crazy for you just seeing them last night and actually being where you were and like you said, growing up with them. Surreal indeed.

Apparently the Detroit police are saying it 's suicide, something was tied around his neck. Unreal. I understand depression can affect anyone but my mind still just can't compute how someone with everything, a family, kids, etc could do that. Very very sad. I wish we could get into his mind and understand why Chris shaging Cornell would want to die.
