RIP Taylor Hawkins

I read this last night before going to sleep and was deeply saddened.
Sincere condolences to his family and his bandmates.
I saw the Foo Fighters in my home town last September and it was one of the best concert I have ever seen. The band was playing with incredible precision and dynamics without ever sounding like they were playing to a click track. Taylor Hawkins drumming and his singing were exceptional.
I feel for Dave Grohl, for him even though his now more mature, loosing a band mate is a deja vu. In this case, they had played together for 25 years.
The Foo Fighters have a massive tour scheduled this year, going at least until October and this loss will complicate things greatly.
Again, sorry to Taylor Hawkin's family and friends for their loss.

According to that article the police suspect that it COULD be drug related. There's ZERO mention of what kind of drug. So nothing is conclusive.

And in another paragraph it says that he overdosed on heroin way back in 2001. That was 21 years ago.

This is how fake news gets spread on the internet.
No, fake news gets spread because people don't know how to differentiate like you do. Clearly someone speculating on TalkBass is not "news," but unfortunately we live in a world where it is treated like it is. Let's get back on track - tragic death no matter how it occurred. And if it was drug-related, let's not perpetuate the stigmatization of addiction either. I saw some a$$hole on Fakebook saying something like "Wouldn't have happened without him selfishly ignoring his family and turning to drugs." First off, again, I agree that nothing has been confirmed, but even if that is what happened, let's not cast stones. We are all deeply flawed and this man captured many hearts and minds in his short life and did so much more than I will ever do.

I lost a friend and former bandmate to addiction. I would never say he was selfish. He was trapped. He was caught. He saw no way out. I cry whenever I think of him. Just to emphasize, I am not saying that's what happened here. But let's be empathetic no matter the cause.

First saw Taylor as Alanis Morissette's drummer and was immediately super impressed, also he looked like Brad Pitt behind the kit! haha! Just damn...
Same here I’m Montreal. A *** moment : who’s that crazy dude behind the drums, playing like the world was going to end!

Saw him with FF a couple years ago in Ottawa and still impressed. Not the greatest drummer of all times nor the most technical but definitely a highly respected musician from all genres.

RIP Taylor

Agreed. Everyone needs to relax with the premature diagnoses until something official is released.
