New basses from Jens again - I can see why he's been so busy recently...!

I also like that 6-string, but my favorite of the bunch must be this one:

Oh, I want another Ritter now... But that won't happen for a while, although I got another tempting offer from him recently. Instead, I hope to soon be able to post some "strange" Ritter-related news here... let's see :p

Very beautiful bass; what a fantastic piece of wood.

Please tell us more! What's the string spacing? What about the Piezo and Polydrive? How do you use that with your rig, etc? How did you get the inspiration for the design/name, etc. There are a few more but I'll leave those for now!

....and for those that want some full pictures: (I'll take these down if you object to me linking from your site, but I think there will be a few folks who will want to see a little more before they head to your site and see all the other great pictures!)

Thunderritter, thanks for the questions and for posting that pic of the carved body... (when Jens sent me that production shot in the mail I started drolling :)

The string spacing is 32mm at the nut but standard down at the bridge.

The Piezos and the polydrive are really there to enable me to control each string via a 13-pin output and the right unit. I've been trying the Roland VB-99 out and I'm getting some absolutely incredible sounds because there are 2 signal paths and strings can be assigned however you want. The resulting tone is very clean.. very vibrant. For unaccompanied solo material, which is what the bass is designed to handle, it's exactly what I was hoping for. To be able to bring out melodies on the G string while keeping the E and A very warm and low and pan them however I want. The possibilities are endless.

The design was something that began at winter NAMM last year and basically continued the entire year. In terms of what inspired the design... I have a birdseye maple Ritter right now that I absolutely love and i recorded my first solo album entirely with this bass. see below:

The whole time I was recording it, I was dreaming of things that my new bass can now do. All the features (with the exception of the 12th fret inlay/LD which just looks really really cool) are very practical for a soloists needs. Extended cutaway. side LEDs so dark stages won't be a problem.. when you're doing a 2 handed tapping piece and the lighting person gets creative it can be a little scary. :) The whole piezo/polydrive thing I explained earlier...

In terms of look I was going for sort of a "deluxe" version of my original.. the maple look. Jens got this incredible piece of Burl for the body. We wanted the jacks to be integrated as organically as possible ,which was a bit of a challenge because the 13-pin jack plate was rather big, but after several different approaches the jack plate was eventually reduced in size and turned from black to gold to match the hardware. I prefer jacks on the side of the body so that's why it ended up this way...Jens is absolutely amazing.

Wow, that's an absolutely stunning bass, Aram...! I know that the RMC piezos are great in a Ritter; I wouldn't want anything else in my Platinum Concept :)

It's very interesting with the polydrive and the options you say it gives you - perhaps we will get some sound samples sometime soon...? I'm really curious to hear what can be done with it.

Oh, and most importantly - if you give us your bass' serial, then I'll give you a club member number :p

There are definitely some sound samples coming.

Jordasch... I know it looks tiny. It's an older model and the body is much smaller than new Ritters. I wish I was 6'3'' but it's an illusion :) My new bass is bigger.... I will take some comparison photos soon.

Aram - the build info on your site is very interesting!

Another question for you: are you running a 18V pre? If so how do you power the L.E.D.s and where's the battery? (I only see one cut-out!)
