If you are wondering what I've got in the Ritter family, take a look on the history part of the Ritter bass website and look up the following basses:

#1048 (arrives this Friday!)

Jens is a master and his basses are amazing.

Also, I echo another point made in an above post. My hobby is playing the bass. While job/family are the main priority, my love of playing music has not been dimished.

My current project is just a fun cover band and I've played every Ritter above (except for #1048) in a full band setting (They love #916 the best BTW for it's huge sound).

Some of my neibhors have major $$$$ tied up in boats/motorcycles/ex-wives, etc. I'm blessed to be able and be fortunate enough to purchase instruments such as these and indulge a lifelong passion.

so you own a Shudarella and 916? WOOOWWWWW!
My first one was 0721, which is actually used for sale from Jens. And my current one is 1017. A real gorgeous fretless.
The next one will be something very radical and spectacular.........

I play in a band with the person who owns #0914.
I must say.... he wasn't very happy about the copy :rolleyes:

How do you like the Cora?
I like it a lot. How it plays, sounds,..., but I would prefer to have the Mid frequency like on his other basses, not just the low mid boost/cut.
I got used to the smaller string spacing very quickly as it close to my non-Ritter basses, but it's just a bit too "tight" for me. Great for fingerstyle, a bit harder for slap. Something in between this spacing and the standard Ritter spacing would be perfect for me.

Hi Frizzle. The 914 copy - that was Jens customer service desire coming out. I had placed the order with Atlanta Bass Gallery for the 914, and paid the deposit, only to have Jens come back and say that the bass was unavailable. He apologized and offered to build me a similar bass.

I love the Cora - it has a more straight ahead sound and I personally don't mind the string spacing at all for slap.

However, my absolute favorite is the 916 for sound, feel and just jaw dropping looks!

He was just a little disappointed his bass wasn't that unique. On the other hand, it's not exactly the same and the first time Jens used this finish was in [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

I haven't heard a Roya Concept yet, but +1 on the jaw dropping looks!!

Ha! No evil Monkey pointing implied! I appreciate your friend's concern as to the uniqueness of the product. That's the nice thing about Ritter - chances are, there will not be another one like it in the world :)

Just let him know that my cover band promises not to book any gigs over in Europe :)

I know that some people shake their head at the Roya Concept's price/design and would proclaim that the avereage player does not need something like this, but in my mind and to my ears, it's probably one of the nicest sounding basses I've ever played.

Until yesterday I've played the Cora at home.
Via Mackie mixer > PC soundcard > hifi stereo amp

Yesterday I took it to a gig.
Cora > Ernie Ball volume pedal > SWR MoBass > Hevos Super 12 set (2x12")

This bass is incredible!! What a sound and playability!
Now I got used to it, I retract my comments about the stringspacing and slapping.
Everyone in the band asked me to buy a Cora (this one was lent to me). I got many compliments with my Roya, but many more with this Cora.
I (probably) won't buy a Cora, but I will go for a 34,5" scale and probably the same electronics as the Cora on my Custom Ritter!

And.... who cares what other people say or think. I'm just an average player too. I also play in cover bands (and occasionally backup bands for local "celebrities")
If you like and can afford a Ritter, go for it! If I had the money, I'd have 3 Ritters by now.
Anyway, I can't wait for my custom Ritter....

I was thinking of the Blue Orange while I was stringing this one up. The NEON orange would tie in beautifully with the orange hardware. These things glow man, on a darkened stage people would swear you are playing a digitally created animated bass!

I love that bass BTW, how is the finish holding up on it?
