The thing is, the big thing I want to know is that I checked the website, and saw that all Jupiters made are 36" scale, even the 4 strings ones (like I'm planning mine). I want to know if they, because of the long strings and different body style, feel the same when hanging on your body. Basically, what I mean is: If I had a Jupiter and a Roya hanging on me and closed my eyes, would I be able to feel a difference in playability? Or I will have to stretch my arm longer to hit the lower notes on the Jupiter? Do you guys get my point?

I think this is different for every person.
I sometimes have wrist problems with basses over 34.5" with wide necks, where the strap button is beyond the 12th fret.

My Cora is 34.5". The string spacing is smaller than other Ritter basses and the straplock is at the 12th fret.

My Fbass BN5 is also 34.5" with the straplock just past the 10th fret.

I have to be careful with my Roya. This is a 35" with wide neck and the strap lock is near the 13th fret.
Looks like the straplock is between the 11th and 12th fret on the Okons, so that won't be a problem for me.

I don't have big hands and I'm only 1.73m. So for me the scale and the straplock position is important.

The straplock position for the Jupiter is at the 12th fret. I would definitely test it before I ever buy one. Of course, it's not like you can go to your local music store and test a Jupiter :hmm:

Hey Ritter folks! I had the opportunity to play a Ritter today (at Bass Club Chicago) and I was shocked at how bad 1. The set up was and 2. How bad the frets were. I can't deny that the electronics were perfect, and both models they had looked great, but the playability was unacceptable. Is this an anamoly, or has anybody has this problem with in-store Ritters shown up before.

It's definitely an anomaly. My first guess, from a blind point of view, is that the bass was not set up properly by the store after receiving the bass form Germany. The newer Ritters have aluminum bars on the neck (someone correct me if I'm wrong), and that gives even better adjustments, so set up can be precisely how you want it to be.
As for the frets, what do you mean by "how bad the frets were"?

All right, folks... I finally had a good talk with Jens on Skype, and we went through a couple of my ideas - if I had the cash, I could literally order 5 completely different basses from him - but it quickly became clear which idea both of us really wanted to see in real life :)

So, what other option did I have... I sent Jens a deposit yesterday evening and have officially started the wait for my third Ritter bass...! :hyper:

Specs will come later, when Jens confirms a few details. But it is something completely different from what I already have, that's for sure...! :D

If they both had the same problem perhaps the shop changed the strings at some point without a neck adjustment.
Putting 45-130 or similar will put the neck out as Jen's own strings are a lighter gauge & different materials. This could be even worse if the B string was not a taper wound & didn't receive saddle compensation.
If they were D'addario strings especially it would need a complete setup right away for playability.

Will there be Kingwood? Only time will tell, as I slowly lift the shroud... :ninja:
