Alright, so Jens called me yesterday, finally...! :hyper:

He told me that he currently has 540 unanswered e-mails in his inbox, so that could be the reason his reply had been delayed
He's considering hiring a secretary :D

Anyway, my bass is almost finished...! Body and neck are done, but the fretboard has been sent to a nearby factory for laser cutting (I guess for the fret grooves), as he doesn't want to take any chances - if this piece of wood is destroyed, there's no more to replace it. Not on the market, anyway.

So that's good and bad news, actually, because the fretboard processing is not being given high priority at the factory, because Jens is the small customer, and they're busy.

So I can just hope they do the job soon, so Jens can get the fretboard back and assemble my bass...!!!

If I'm really lucky, it'll be done within a month or so, he said - realistically, probably mid July. I can't wait...! :help:

Btw, did I mention that with this new Ritter, I'll have THREE basses with Kingwood fingerboard...??? :p
The two ritters with matching Purple Kingwood boards (one fretless, one fretted), and my Fodera Monarch Deluxe, which has regular, but now also very rare, Kingwood as fretboard wood. I'm fairly content :D

...and possibly slightly obsessed with Kingwood ! :hiding:

oh I spotted some updates in his gallery, some stuff from musikmesse, and 3 new basses for bass people, dealer in australia!

Yeah, I'd LOVE some progress pics from Jens, but I already asked him several months ago, and I wouldn't push him again, he's busy enough as it is. I'll take some pics myself when I get the bass...!

Why do I love Kingwood...? What, haven't you SEEN the - oh, sorry, I get carried away... :D
I don't really know, but it started after I got the Fodera, for me it just has the properties of a perfect fretboard wood - it's difficult to explain why, but it just feels right for me. I don't think the fingerboard wood influences tone as much as some would claim, but for the little say that it does have, I think I get a harder, more snappy tone with it than for instance rosewood, but a fuller and warmer tone than ebony, though with the same punch.
I'm much more than pleased with the fingerboard on the Platinum, and I got all my impressions from the Fodera confirmed regarding the Kingwood, so when I talked to Jens about my custom build, I asked him if he could make another bass with the wonderful Purple Kingwood - and he could, although it cost a fortune.

I must admit, as much as I'm crazy about this wood as a fingerboard wood in regard to tone and feel, it's as much about the looks for me, especially with the purple stuff... so when I first saw the Platinum bass, I immediately thought "Man, a birds eye maple top with THAT fretboard would be AMAZING"...! So, there you have it :)

Eric - dude, er - no comment.

I'm getting the classic that's listed on here, Mike has been great on working with me on this! My check was held up over "computer problems". Fortunately for me, he's being very understanding. Have never laid hands on a Ritter but have always admired them from afar. Thinking this may just replace my Mod Q-5 as my main bass. Now if the wait for it just doesn't cause me to implode..........:hyper:

As of tonight the Ritter is MINE!!!!My funds finally arrived, called Mike, and we're finishing the deal. She's a bit like me, has a bit of age on her, a few bumps and bruises, not as pretty as some,....so I think we'll be a perfect match,... here she is, although I'm sure most of you have already seen her,my first RITTER!!!!

Consider me one extremely happy camper, and thank you to my lovely wife for granting me an incredible fathers day wish!!!!:hyper:
