absolutely!
the Rockfield electronics are freakin awesome (and can't be had anywhere else!) they can do both passive and active! you can dial a p thump, a Ric's trebly growl (think Geddy Working man!), or a modern Hi-fi groove
the bridge some people don't care for, but it has grown on me and fits the metal bill (as you mentioned it would be mostly for metal) the sustain however is phenominal (im sure the neck through helps)
Maple, Ebony, and a Wenge fret board!
