I went into Bohemian Rhapsody knowing next to nothing about Freddie Mercury other than he fronted Queen and they were wildly successful. Watching the movie I learned some things about how the band was formed and about Mercury’s rise from obscurity to worldwide fame and how they created their music.

The overall arc of the movie gave me a pretty good lesson in all things Queen. True, some of the details and events in the movie may not have taken place exactly as depicted, or even at all. What difference does it make? The totality of the film is faithful to how most of it went down. It’s the big picture that matters, not the minute details.

I thought it was a bold move to go with humor that requires knowledge of the British and American English names for Eruca sativa, and then I saw the PS...

Personally, I’d have let the audience sink or swim on their own, but I won’t fault you for losing your nerve at the last second. ;)
Cheers. Actually i only just edited it to add the PS. After 5 pages and 16hrs there were no Likes so figured the US folk needed a prompt. Two likes in two hours since.....

That joke is often told at a local Elton John Tribute Show here in Aus & always gets a laugh.

I wasn't planning on seeing this in the theater, but it worked out that I did. An entertaining movie for sure. Taron Egerton did a great job with the acting and singing and the rest of the cast were fine as well. Musical-style song and dance scenes are not my thing, but they were well done and according to EJ, are consistent with his psyche at the time.

I have no idea how accurate the details are, but with the involvement EJ and his husband, it's probably not too off the mark. It's amazing that such talent developed with such a dysfunctional upbringing, but not surprising how easily EJ slipped into his addictions. The movie also gave me knew respect for Bernie Taupin.

Sorry, I think these type of movies are cheap cash grabs. There is not even a pretense of telling an accurate story, and the music is really a cover band. So what's the reason for seeing it?
Well for one, it's not full of superheroes, the appeal of those movies really escapes me. See? Different strokes for different folks.;)

Wait... man with a secret identity, dresses up in outlandish bright clothes, and travels around the world doing thing the ordinary man couldn't do, in order to make millions happy.

I don't see much difference...:D

I'll just leave this here for Buldog to reference...
