I agree. Dee was a great player. Very underrated. His bass lines are fun to play.

I plan to see it on the cinema although I ain't a moviegoer at all because I love Elton John's music and Dee Murray's incredible melodic bass playing.

However, I have no expectations at all with this biopic. My guts tell me that Rocketman is only Bohemian Rhapsody - a movie that I really enjoyed to see on the theater, BTW (never trust the critics, go to see things with your own eyes before making judgments) - with steroids.

I have no problems with the liberties taken and the historical inaccuracies. After all, there are books and documentaries to remedy that and a movie is a movie, an entertaining product and not the ultimate truth about anything.

My problem with this kind of movie is the regurgitation of the cliché story about a kid with talent and family issues conquering the world and become the agent of his own downfall due to his excesses only to seek redemption later.

Thank god there's the music. Without that, Rocketman would be something completely uninteresting to me.

I thought it was a bold move to go with humor that requires knowledge of the British and American English names for Eruca sativa, and then I saw the PS...

Personally, I’d have let the audience sink or swim on their own, but I won’t fault you for losing your nerve at the last second.

Eh, or that requires you're a gardener in zone 7 or 8 or regularly attend farmers markets in those zones. Rocket has become a market staple in my region in the past 3 years or so...

Sounds like this movie will have a harder edge than Bohemian Rhapsody. I’m not sure that’s a good thing. But I’m interested in seeing it.

My girl and her daughter want to see it, so I guess I'm going to see it.

Imo, his early stuff was superb but I think that he jumped the shark with "Island Girl" and it was downhill ever since.

Edit: really enjoyed Bohemian Rhapsody and may enjoy this one as well. Also, I saw Elton John and Billy Joel on a double bill tour during the '80s. Great show.

That it’s entertainment in the form of an artsy slant on Reg’s life maybe? Or will there be a quiz on Sir Elton’s life following the presentation?
Or taken from a capitalistic weasels POV, no matter how factually and historically accurate it could be, a flicker for entertainment will earn a ton more than a documentary.
I wonder how many people were disappointed by the inaccuracies in Anne Get Your Gun or The Unsinkable Molly Brown.

I read somewhere that Elton himself was either a fan of the scene or encouraged it, or both. He said that was what it felt like at that moment, and he was glad it was/wanted it represented that way.

I finally got around to watching Bohemian Rhapsody last night.. the timeline inaccuracies were a bit annoying, but I still enjoyed the movie... I'm sure Rocket Man will be the same.
