Hey Bassmanjay,

Could you tell me about the mods on your RBV? Did you have to route the body to get the OBP-3 to fit? What knob config do you have? I thought the OBP-3 was four knob - V,T,M,B/T.

Appreciate any feedback.

Hi guys,

I Need some help again. I just put a set of TI Jazz Flats on my new to me RBV. I'm having trouble setting the intonation on the B, E and A strings (D and G are OK). I'm just a hair flat at the octave, using a StroboFlip tuner, but seem to be at the limit of adjustment for the bridge. This is my first time dealing with this kind of a bridge. I've set the string height O.K. and the 2 mm hex screw, I am assuming, locks the slide of the saddle in place. Is there any other adjustment which can be made to lengthen the range of motion of the saddle?

Hey family I have a question. I'm using my Nemesis NA650 with my GK SBX4x10 cab, the Nemesis is one of the best heads I have ever used with my RBV. Very punchy and low end. Much better than my GK 700rb. The only thing is using Bi AMp with NA650 I'm not getting the highs. Was going to sell it but going to keep it now. Thinking the Nemesis does not have the Bi Amp feature is why I'm not hearing the highs. Anyone have and idea?

Sorry, I'm no help with the Nemesis/Gk question, but can I have a number or something? This is my '98 RB5, she's a little rough around the edges after 10 years of trench duty, but she's never let me down, it's true love..

What kind of flatwounds have you all been able to use successfully on the Roscoe Beck V? I'm particularly interested in reports from those using the the throughbody option on the bridge.

Thanks! I'm not a club-joining kind of guy, but recently got an RBV, and am very impressed.

I've only had my RBV for a couple of weeks now. I first put on a set of GHS flats I had lying around. They were fairly new, I had tried them on my '65 Jazz, but found that on that bass I really prefer rounds. The GHS were fine and sounded very good, but I took them off after getting a new set of TI Jazz Flats which are my prefered string on my Precision A/E fretless. I tried the B string both through the bridge and through the body. I really didn't hear any appreciable difference. The through the body stringing used more string length than through the bridge. The wrapping on the B string when strung through the body intruded past the nut and onto the speaking length of the string. This does not seem to effect the tone, but it is not something that I care for. I went back to through the bridge stringing. I'm very happy with the sound.

One thing to note though, as per my previous post, I seem to be at the limits of the bridge saddle adjustment on the B, E and A strings. The octave is ever so slghtly flat as measured on the StroboFlip tuner I use for setups. I can't really hear the flatness, but I do pick it up and there seems to be no more room for adjustment. This does seem to be a flaw in the bridge design.

I did buy a 6 string set of the TI Jazz Flats, I might try stringing the RBV with a high C as opposed to the low B. I'll report on that if I do a trial.

Sorry for the delay in handing out a number but I've been snowboarding in BC for the last 10 days. Now I've got to do a gig with holiday softened fingers and raging jet lag!

They aren't 5 string pickups.

There is a pole under each string, but its sunk lower, under the cover.

Its designed to help with low action, and means you still get awesome, useable tone, right up the low strings.

I can play on the 22nd fret(22 fret bass) on the low E, and it sounds as even and toneful as the low notes, or high strings.:)

The same deal is why the old five string version had one of the best B's going, and without a doubt, the best 5er Fender ever made.

cleveeerrr! i never wouldve thought of that. ill have to check one out cause thats a problem i get on my mim jazz. i see some GAS comin :hiding:

It really is an ingenious design. Heh, expected no less from Bill Lawrence.:cool:

I had the problem on basses as well. When you realise you can play up there it opens up all kinds of new chordal, tapping, even runs.
