I'm afraid I'd have to turn my Roscoes in, too, if that's the new rule. :help:

But don't root notes SOUND better on a Roscoe? Not to mention they're more easily played. What I lack in talent, I need my bass to make up for me in the quality of my tone. :D

Even if you can pound roots in odd meters like 12/8? I mean that's gotta be worth at least admission to owning a Standard right????:confused:


And while I'm at it, If I hafta turn in my Roscoe for being a root pounder, this better be like "Guns for Groceries" or one of those deals. I gotta get somethin' out of it.:smug:

It goes by rep/talent level(if you're unknow, they actually make you take a playing test).


Only reason they let me use my Fender is because I gave them a false name....

Ray, actually 12/8 is not an odd meter. It is a compound meter, while it's counted as 12 1/8 notes, it's actually 4 triplets, and feels like a "swing" or "shuffle" 4:

1-trip-let-2-trip-let-3-trip-let-4-trip-let

It is the "correct" way to notate a swing four feel, but rarely used. Instead, you will see it notated in 4/4 with the direction to "swing" or "shuffle" the 1/8ths. You do this by leaving out the "middle" triplet, as such:

1-*-let-2-*-let-3-*-let-4-*-let

Which gives that "DUH-d-DUH-d-DUH-d-DUH-d-DUH" feel.
